Friday Favorites (14)

It’s time for Friday Favorites where I share all my favorites in home decor, entertainment, and more!

You may remember that I started this series to feature a few of my favorite things from clothes, to paints, to food, and things to do with the kids. If you missed any you can see them here.

So I missed Friday Favorites for November and I wondered if I should bother for December as I know everyone is getting inundated with gift guides and deals from big box stores. You guys said you’d like one last Friday Favorites for 2020. So here it is!

Favorite Books

Let’s start with books! I’ve been reading a lot both non fiction and fiction.

Fiction Books I’m Enjoying Right Now

I’m currently reading The Dutch House by Anne Pathchett. It is beautifully written and I, of course, love that the backdrop for the book is The Dutch House, a beautiful home I can picture in my head while reading.

If you want a suspenseful thriller with lots of twists, I think you’d like The Guest List by Lucy Foley. There is some language and sexual content but I got sucked into the story and all its twists and turns. It’s a thriller set on an island off the coast of Ireland.

Non-Fiction Books I’m Enjoying Right Now

I don’t know about you but I’m missing travel A LOT. I have wonderful memories of visiting France with Luke’s family when we were still in college. Our two boys are now taking French and we told them one day we would visit (if able to) as long as they work hard at French. I read Summers in France by Kathryn M. Ireland in one day! Her French farmhouse is lovely and will make you dream of having your own little villa in the French countryside.

I LOVE books on design as many of you know. I listened to The Style Matters Podcast with Alyssa Rosenheck which made me want to read her brand new book. Alyssa is a photographer and she’s looking at Southern style in a new way in The New Southern Style. This design book is also a social commentary and trying to heal social divides. I’m really enjoying the photography and the beautiful writing.

I’m looking forward to reading the brand new book The Perfect Kitchen by Barbara Sallick. Barbara is the cofounder of Waterworks. I attended a virtual design conference where she discussed kitchen design with three different designers, and her book was highlighted. I’m looking forward to using this book as a resource as we begin to plan our dream kitchen and also to help me guide interior design clients.

Favorite Blankets

I LOVE my faux fur blankets… In fact, I haven’t met one I didn’t like. This one is my favorite and I often have to fight Max for it…

This blanket is currently on sale and so is this one.

You can read more about our Christmas home tour here and here if you missed it.

Favorite Gift Wrap

I painted these simple pine tree gift tags. There’s 8 in all…

Hope you enjoy them for all your holiday wrapping. If you enjoy these you might also like my other free printables and our online shop.

Favorite Home Gadgets

Are you still looking for a few Christmas gifts?!? If so, I might be able to help.

I would LOVE this TV. It is a TV but also doubles as framed art when not in use. It’s been on my wish list for a few years. I’m pretty sure it will be on my list again next year but just in case Santa’s listening 😉

This vacuum is great for quick and easy clean ups. I use it all the time in our kitchen, the stairs, and tight spaces in our home. I also tried this vacuum at my mom’s house and LOVE it; it’s so quiet!

I’m hair challenged. Ha! Ha! I have naturally curly hair and have never been able to blow it out. That was until I bought this dryer. It takes me about 20 minutes and comes out perfectly EVERY time.

We have one thermostat that is next to our fireplace so so our upstairs is always FREEZING if the fire is on. Luke added this sensor to our bedroom for the Nest and now our upstairs is warm.

Favorite Apparel

I LOVE boot cut jeans and these ones are my new favs! I know everyone likes skinny jeans but boot cut always make me look taller 😉 They’re currently on sale!

I got these timeless kitten heels before Thanksgiving and they go with everything. I also recommend the Chatham pants. I have them on in cropped scallop which I think might be a previous season.

Favorite TV Shows and Films

We’re, of course, loving the new season of The Crown. My mom woke me up very early when I was little for a Royal Breakfast to watch the wedding of Diana and Charles.

We just started watching The Queen’s Gambit and love it. It’s about a chess prodigy in the 1960s. The acting, the production design, and writing are all phenomenal.

If you want a fun and light Christmas movie we all enjoyed Operation Christmas Drop which is actually based on a true story.

Favorite Way to Pass the Time

We LOVE baking during this month. Conor usually makes all different cookies for his friends and delivers them like a Secret Santa, but don’t think we’ll be able to that this year.

We just made these gingerbread house cakes the other week and plan on baking more for Christmas Day.

Here’s a few other things we love to bake this month: Click on the image or title for the recipe:

Well, I think that’s it for this Friday Favorites, what are you guys loving lately?
