Friday Favorites (70)

Well, it’s the last Friday of October and I thought it would be a perfect time to share Friday Favorites. I have A LOT to share this month!

Favorite Walk

We took Beau to Norris Reservation for the the first time and it happened to be golden hour. This reservation holds so many special memories for our family – picnic lunches at the boat house when the kids were little, long walks with Poppy and Max, and snowy winter walks during Covid with Luke.

Favorite Window Boxes

The studio window boxes just got a little freshen up for fall and I’m loving the mix of straw, greenery from the summer, and all the pumpkins and gourds.

Favorite Books

I just read the Wedding People by Alison Espach. I kept seeing the beautiful cover and was intrigued. I really enjoyed the Newport setting and the premise. The characters are wonderful and I can’t help but seeing this as a movie or mini series.

Favorite Time with Family

Family is very important to us. On Sunday we went up to see my cousins in Newburyport and we brought my mom. The first stop was my cousin Eric’s barbershop – Banter, Barber & Clothier. What a special space from the beautiful preserved interior with tin ceilings and original hardwood floors. Eric’s shop is part clothier complete with a pool table and shuffle board part barbershop and part hang out.

The logo is an artist’s rendering of Eric and my grandfather, Matty, who was a barber for 20 years. Hanging in the shop is vintage images of my mom’s dad.

It meant so much to see these images which I’ve seen before.

That’s him in his barber shop having a haircut.

He had such swagger!

It was lovely to hear stories and learn more about Eric’s shop. We also had a wonderful brunch at Ginny and Tommy’s home. It was a really, really lovely day.

Favorite TV and Films

Favorite TV

Lately we’ve been watching a lot of programs at night.

Running Point on Netflix – I’m not really a sport person so this show didn’t appeal to me but my sister Pammy kept saying how good it was. Well, we’re hooked. I LOVE Kate Hudson in it. It’s about a family run basketball team in the LA Waves. We’re binging it big time. We’re already on season 2. If you liked Ted Lasso I think you’ll like this show.

From on Netflix – Okay, this is scary and stressful. I can only watch one episode at a time. It’s by the producers of Lost and I don’t want to share too much because I don’t want to give any spoilers.

Films

Voicemails for Isabelle on Netflix – Jill copes with her sister’s death by leaving her voicemails. What she doesn’t know is her sister’s number gets reassigned and someone is getting those voicemails. We really enjoyed this film.

Disclosure Day on Peacock – This is the new film by Steven Spielberg and the cast is wonderful! Really interesting film. I did feel that the ending was a little abrupt.

Sheep Detectives on Amazon – This is Beau’s favorite film. We watched it and he was glued to the TV. Now we put it on for him if we go out. It’s just a really fun movie.

Mayday on Apple – Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh as you’ve never seen them before. This is a great film!

Favorite Edamame

Oh, my goodness, we got the edamame from Salty Days and it’s AMAZING. I love the rub they put on it!

Favorite Halloween Decor

I already shared this on Instagram, but how wonderful is this Halloween decor? You can find it on Border Street in Cohasset.

Favorite Flowers

And last but not least, my favorite flowers are by my friend Amity at Everwilde Flower Co. She turned her yard into a flower farm and has kept the studio looking beautiful and inspiring.
