Favorite New Addition

Man and puppy walking on the beach

That would have to be Beau! You can read all about him here. He is a sweet little pup who is actually growing quite quickly. Tomorrow marks a month since we rescued him at Sterling Animal Shelter.

He loves riding in the car, playing with Max, and the beach. We think he’s going to be a water lover which we’re really excited about.

An aside – we were at the beach and two labs came bounding at him and he ran right into the water and then hid behind my legs. I wish I had a video of it. We scooped him up and brought him home and he smelled wonderfully of the beach: sand, salt water, and puppy…

Favorites for Puppies

Speaking of puppies. I thought I’d share a few of Beau’s absolute favorites:

  • Drop in Puppy Training at Fetch. This is led by Terry, owner of the Dog Butler. You can see a video here.
  • One on one training sessions with Terry. We did this the other night to help with biting and eating of our crushed shells. We have so many in the yard around the pool.
  • Mallard Duck by Kong – One of his absolute favorite toys! He loves this one and it really squeaks. In fact, Max keeps trying to steal it so we had to get one for Max too.
  • Spot Farms Beef Tenders – These are human grade jerky for dogs. They use these at the puppy training sessions and we’re using it at home for training too.
  • Kong – My new trick is filling the Kong with dog treat meatballs from Trader Joe’s. This keeps him busy for a bit.

We also brought a camp chair into the kitchen to have a comfy chair to sit on and Beau has claimed it for himself. He loves sitting up on it and even naps in the chair. It’s so sweet!

Favorite Books

Life is busy with the puppy so I’m still reading the same book – The Starless Sea – but it is soooo good. I’m loving escaping into this book and its wonderful stories.

Favorite Class

While John was home on Spring Break we went to a Nerikomi Pottery Making Class at Noted with Heather of Scotty Hill Ceramics. We had a great time. I first met Heather at the Hingham Holiday Market. We were booth neighbors and I fell in love with her work. I was excited to play with porcelain and experience this really beautiful method.

With our table mates we created a block of porcelain in layers and then sliced pieces off the block which we created our bowls and spoons from. This is what we created:

Heather will fire and glaze it. I can’t wait to see how our pottery turns out. Here’s a peek at her pottery:

Favorite Sushi

Spicy sushi

We took the boys for dinner at the Oysterman in Scituate and absolutely LOVE the Spicy Delux-bury. We are also big fans of the Shrimp Cocktail, Buffalo Cauliflower, and the Brussels Sprouts. We sat in the main dining room with the kids, but I also really enjoy the back bar for it’s cozy atmosphere and drinks with friends.

Favorite New Product

We just launched watercolor paint palettes and everyone is loving them! We’re offering just the paint and travel palette or combined in a watercolor starter set.

Favorite Flowers

Here in New England the rain and cold continues but flowers are starting to pop up. How pretty are these daffodils I spotted in Providence last weekend?

Favorite TV & Movies

TV

Paradise – on Hulu. We really enjoyed watching the second season and maybe liked it better than season 1.

Hacks – on HBO Max. This show is so well written and we enjoy each season. This season brought many surprises.

Films

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry – on Prime and Netflix. Jim Broadbent is phenomenal. A beautiful, heart-wrenching story of an ordinary man on an unlikely pilgrimage.

Favorite Cocktails and Gathering Spot

We really miss the pubs of England but have started meeting friends at Untold. They now serve hand crafted seltzer cocktails which I enjoy as I’m not a beer drinker. On our last visit I had this tropical feeling drink with coconut milk. I think it was called Sunset After 5, but made me feel like I was on a tropical island.

We also brought Beau and everyone at Untold loved him.

Happy Spring and Happy Easter! Ok Beau is adorable! Looks like maybe some shepherd in him? Must be fun having a puppy in the house. That pottery is beautiful. Must have been fun creating a piece. I just watched the trailer to the movie that you suggested and it looks very good. It’s on my watch list. Thank you for the recommendation. Congratulations on your paint sets!
