Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style and more!

I honestly can’t believe it’s already the middle of September? Can you?

Favorite View…

I snapped this the other day eating lunch with Luke at the Lucky Finn. This is my favorite view in Scituate. I feel so very lucky to call this town home.

I love this boat docked on the fishing pier:

Favorite Books

My friend Shannon over at Home Made Lovely just launched a brand new book all about organizing and decluttering. The Clutter Fix is filled to the brim with tips and tricks. I actually need organizing help with all the shop inventory AND our basement. I’m a collector. So I’m going through this easy to follow book to try and tame the basement once and for all.

I enjoyed the Organizing Personality Quiz – I’m a “You’re a Nothing Out + Simple Organizer”. To quote Shannon “You love, love, love to tuck things away behind closed doors, and you adore visual simplicity. Your storage and organizational systems need to easy-to-use because you are so not into details.” I think that describes my organizing style and esthetic in general so well! I love classic style. I’d be interested to know what organizing personality you are. I love her Step-by-Step Room-by-Room Decluttering Guide.

On the fiction front I’m reading The Peacock Emporium by JoJo Moyes. I love her writing style. I loved The Giver of Stars and Me Before You (if you’re looking for more recommendations).

Favorite Celebration

Our son, Conor, just turned 13 on September 1st! I know, I can’t believe it either!!!! If you’ve read the blog from the beginning he was only just a toddler when I started it. Wooo. Where does the time go?

Anyway, Conor is a BIRTHDAY person. He LOVES birthdays, especially his own. So there was a week of celebrating. On his actual birthday we went to Nantasket Beach in Hull.

We enjoyed time in the arcade and played around a mini golf. Then enjoyed lunch at The Parrot overlooking the water.

Then spent the afternoon on the beach where the boys built forts and swam. It truly was a magical day and felt very retro.

The following day we went up to Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire. This is a theme park my parents took me to when I was little. It was very nostalgic.

Favorite TV & Movies

Luke and I just started watching Guilt on Masterpiece. So far we’ve only watched one episode but it has me on the edge of my seat and very anxious.

We just started watching Hotel Portofino with the kids on PBS and love it. It’s set in Italy in 1926 and the views and interiors are beautiful. In a way it reminds us of The Durrells in Corfu.

I also wanted to share a fun documentary with you. If you’re looking for something extremely heart warming. I watched this on the flight back from Spain. Batkid is wonderful. I actually cried when I watched it.

Favorite Project

Luke and I collaborated on our NEW 2023 Watercolor Calendar. Luke hand crafts each stand and the calendar is filled with my watercolor illustrations. They make lovely gifts, especially over the holidays, as it’s like a gift of watercolor for the WHOLE year. I shared more about it the other day on the blog.

Favorite Clothing

So I’m living in those wide leg pants I shared in the summer. I got a pair in black and green, both great for every day or dress up occaisions.

I also learned about a new shop to me – Tuckernuck, I’m not sure if you guys are familiar with them, but it was founded in 2012 by a group of family & friends and it’s named after an island off the coast of Nantucket. It embraces classic and coastal style. Of course, I was swept up in everything on their website. I just ordered this dress. Honestly, there is so much I would LOVE to order.

I’m also day dreaming of these home items:

Favorite Night Out

Luke and I enjoyed a night out at Mullaney’s Fish Market in Scituate Harbor. It was a fundraiser for the Friends of Scituate Seafood Development. You can see a little reel I made of it. The views were breathe-taking and the food was AMAZING.

Such a fun night for a very good cause!

Favorite Online Class

This week I’ve been painting a lot – getting back into the routine of a daily watercolor practice. I really enjoy taking Skillshare classes to learn new techniques. I’m loving this class by Zaneena Nabeel. It is a Sunsets and Silhouettes class – a new landscape for each day. I shared an instagram reel of a painting I did while painting it.

I’m happy to offer my readers one month of Skillshare premium for free!

Well, I think that covers all my favorites! Hope you enjoyed this installment of Friday Favorites! You can see all of them here. Now, it’s your turn! What are the things you’re loving right now?
