Seaside Summer Mantel

I can’t believe it is already the middle of July (sorry, I don’t mean to wish the summer away) and I haven’t shared our Seaside Summer Mantel with you!

I guess we’ve just been so busy with going to the beach, collecting shells and eating ice cream.

I totally forgot.

Well, here it is in all it’s beachy glory!  The focal point is a driftwood boat my husband made.  We were going to sell it at the open studio and just couldn’t do it.  It is HUGE.

I love it so much and when you get a piece like that, well, you really have to hang onto it. I found that huge piece of driftwood on Egypt Beach about a year and half ago and the sail is made from a neutral fabric.   I do have a few others in my Etsy shop if you’re interested.

Antique ball jars glisten on the mantel along with the “sea glass” bottles I made a few months back.  I really love to put flowers in these bottles.

Air plants in sea shells with pottery shards and sea glass add another whimsical touch.

I love their spiky shape with the the smooth shells.

I brought up some of the pieces of driftwood we’ve collected at our local beaches and put them in a huge basket.

More driftwood is in the fireplace too!  Why, not right?

driftwood and starfish

Soft silvery grays and whites of driftwood mixed with the sculptured shape of scallops, oysters and starfish.

These photos were taken back in June, and I thought my greek blue chair looked great with the bottles.  I sold this as part a coastal kitchen set at the open studio.

I hope you’re all enjoying these long summer days.  I hope, like us, you’re recharging your batteries.  It is so important to take time to rest and to dream.

Your mantel is perfect for summer. The first thing my eye was drawn to before I read a word was the incredible boat that your husband built. Love it!

I love all of it! You certainly did the right thing by not selling the driftwood boat. It is gorgeous!

The boat is perfect for the mantel and it would have been a shame to sell it. It all has a great summer and seashore vibe!
