Pool House Inspiration

White shiplap walls with black accents are the basis for my pool house inspiration.

I’ve enjoyed having a she shed for 4 years. It’s been a wonderful space to retreat, to write, and day dream ideas, BUT now I’m thinking this space would be wonderful to share with family in friends. Four years ago, I partnered with the Home Depot on this coastal retreat. You can see the makeover here.

It feels like yesterday when they constructed the shed in our yard. Conor was so excited to watch all the excitement, as was I! Luke and I worked so hard to transform this shed into a cute mini version of our home. We added shiplap walls, a marble chip patio, and fun coastal decor inside. Here’s a peek from three years ago:

Last spring / summer we added a pool. It was a dream for us and our two boys. If you’re interested in reading more about our pool you can here and here. As part of the pool / patio design we moved the shed closer to the pool area to make it more cohesive. We had planned on turning the shed into a pool house last summer BUT we ran out of time…

This spring I added the starfish and rope wreath.

Luke built a gorgeous oversized window box for me. The plans are here.

I also found this sweet teak set that looks perfect outside the shed. Perfect for evening cocktails as the sun sets.

Now that we’ve updated the outside we’re starting to work on the inside. I’m excited to share with you my plans.

Pool House Inspiration

I started with some mood boards back in the winter. Initially, I was thinking of a navy and white theme as I love blue sooooooo much.

The above design is the same but I switched the rug for this one. Here’s a 3D rendering. Although I don’t have large windows like this in the shed 🙂

Black and White Coastal Pool House

Since the winter I’ve had a lot of time to ponder the pool house and I’ve decided that I want a black and white theme. I feel like black and white is timeless, classic, sleek, and modern. We have a few black accents in our home but obviously have no completely black and white rooms.

Here’s my idea for the shed. A space to kick back and relax and mix a cocktail or two. If you want to get out of the sun, you can or if you want to just stop in to grab a cold drink. We ran electricity to the shed last summer and have a small mini fridge. We’ll be adding a wood counter and a built in cabinet to store bartending stuff, adding floating wooden shelves, and built in seating (the seat will actually have storage space for all our outdoor cushions & we have lots of them).

You all know, I painted the sunroom floors bright white and completely LOVE the look.

I just painted the floors in the shed the same white and it looks fabulous.

Here are few elements I’ll be adding to the pool house in addition to the white shiplap walls, the built ins, and the white floors:

Love the coastal vibe of your pool house! The nuances and furniture you picked are so beautiful and I can’t wait to see the finished project. It already looks so cozy, relaxing and inviting. I’m 100% sure it’s going to be amazing, just like we’re used to seeing from you.
