How to Create a Mini Coastal Christmas Tree

The sea is never far from my heart or my mind.  We got to spend some time at the beach over Thanksgiving weekend and it inspired me to create a mini coastal Christmas Tree.

How to Create a Mini Coastal Tree

If you think about it everything looks cute in a mini version.  Mini cars, tea cup dogs and mini cupcakes, all which I love and hope to have when I “grow old”.  Ha! Ha!

Seriously, what is cuter than a miniature tree?

I found this one for $6.99 at a local florist, but most craft stores have them too for pretty cheap.

Mini Tree Before

I loved the burlap and its petite size, but it needed something, don’t you think?

All things can be improved with a bit of the sea.

This little craft was so quick and easy and I think this would also be a great handmade gift too for friends, teachers and family! I’m excited to share this little tutorial with you.

Materials

  • Mini Christmas Tree
  • Assorted sea life (I used star fish, shells and sea horses)
  • Glue Gun

Materials for making a mini coastal Christmas TreeFirst you want to fluff up your tree.  Bend those branches and give it a nice shape.

Next plug in your glue gun.  You don’t need anything fancy.  I got this one from Michaels 10 years ago and it’s still going strong (so many craft project complete, including my no sew tree skirt from last year, click here to see that)!

Hot Glue and other materials

You want to have an assortment of different shells and sea life.  Different sizes and textures.

Dab your hot glue where you want your shells and hold the shell in place for a few seconds. Careful of your fingers, that glue is hot!

Don’t forget the star on top!

Mini Christmas Tree After

And that’s all there is to it!  A mini coastal Christmas tree in minutes.  Great to give as a gift or keep for yourself. I’m loving how this one looks out in our sunroom.

This is pitiful- I expected since you signed up for a Christmas Home Tour you would know what that is- and all that’s here is a cheap tiny tree with sad DEAD seahorses…..so so awful for little things!
