A Grown Up Halloween Party

“When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
‘tis near Halloween.”

A Grown Up Halloween Party

It is entirely possible that I like Halloween more than my children.

When I was little, my mom would make my costumes.  One year I was Michael Jackson (Thriller – Michael Jackson) another year I was a witch (with a green face mask that hardened on my face as I trick or treated) and another year a bride.  I even went as a mermaid….I walked very slow that year (my poor Dad).

Each year, I get very excited decorating the house.  I already shared our Halloween Mantel, click here if you missed it.

Finding Silver Pennies Halloween Mantel

I really love the simplicity and elegance of black and white for Halloween.

Well, now I’ve moved into the dining room.

I got basic white napkins and a tablecloth from Home Goods and used gorgeous stencils from Royal Design Studios to created an elegant Halloween tablescape.

A pretty Halloween Tablescape

I shared the full tutorial over on Paint + Pattern the other week. You can see it here.

It is really quite simple.  I used the Flat Black Royal Stencil Creme and stenciled lace doilies in a haphazard overlapping pattern, I used the Diana Lace Doily Stencil.

carmel apples

You can see the effect above. Conor also helped me make these caramel apples…. at 7am… Ha! Ha! The life of a blogger right!

How to Stencil a Halloween Tablescape

The napkins were also created with a stencil. I used the same flat black stencil creme.

Crow Napkin

I did this with the bird tile stencil.  Doesn’t it look like bats?

Shimmery pumpkins, Moscow mule glasses and Halloween candles complete the look.

A Halloween Party DIY

It was hard to keep Conor’s hands out of the cupcakes and candy corns….

I hope this little tablescape will inspire one in your own home.  This was really quite easy and most of the items I had around our home.

I don’t know about you but we’re getting ready for a big, spooky Halloween night.  The boys are already talking about Trick or Treating in the Harbor.  If they could just decide on what they want to be…

What fabulous stencils Danielle… I love how your tablecloth turned out. Thank you for linking up at Shabbilicious Friday. I’m delighted to be featuring this post at tomorrow’s party.
