A Christmas Bench (Before & After)
You may recognize this little Christmas Bench from our home tour. I thought I’d share the makeover details with you today.

I found this awesome piece at Bent Nail Farm Antiques it was a bit dirty and needed cleaning but otherwise was in perfect condition.

Here’s the top:

I scuff sanded and washed the piece down. Then I mixed up some MMS Milk Paint. I wanted this piece to look rustic, like it was just found out in an old barn.
I used Luckett’s Green first and dry brushed it on, but it was looking a little flat. So I dry brushed some Grain Sack too. I love how it came out.

I sanded it down so it is pretty smooth and I sealed this piece with Miss Mustard Seed Tung Oil, as I did with this little Ikea step stool.

I mixed together the solvent and Tung Oil so it would be easier to apply. I brushed on with an Ikea brush and then wiped away. I repeated this the next day. By using Tung Oil you get a water resistant top coat.

Aren’t John’s new boots so cute?!? I can’t believe he’s almost my size. These are a kids 3 and I wear a kids 4. Sigh.
The bench fit perfectly in our entry.

Oh, and I got a new pair of rain boots per all your suggestions on Facebook. These are Hunter Kids.

I was so tempted to keep this one!
But I brought it down to Kjeld Mahoney’s Gallery in Sciutate Harbor to sell. So if you need a little spot to pull on your boots go take a look.
