Fall Vignette and Free Printable

Jane Austen Comforts of Home

I love the words of Jane Austen.  I remember discovering Pride and Prejudice in Miss Finneran’s 8th grade class and the rest was history.  My mind was filled with dreams of English gentlemen, fancy balls and the English countryside.  I’m so grateful that I got to experience modern day England and meet my Mr. Darcy.  Jane Austen’s writing has always brought me such comfort, so I knew I wanted to share a quote by her as part of this fall tour.

Home Quote by Jane Austen

Twenty of my friends (see below for their blogs), decided it would be fun to create Fall and Halloween themed printables to share with you to inspire some autumn decorating!  I’m so sad to see summer go.  It is such a beautiful time in our seaside town, but autumn fills me with happy family memories: apple picking, Halloween in the Harbor, baking pies for Thanksgiving, carving pumpkins and pulling on our warm cashmere sweaters.

Milk Paint Cabinet Fall Vignette

Fall is a time to return inside our homes and enjoy each other’s company.

My printable pairs the changing seasons here on the shore with the comforts of home.  My beloved hydrangeas have changed to the most amazing purple, tan, pale blue and green hues.  These are the colors of my autumn.

Dried Hydrangeas

I cut flowers when they started to change colors on my hydrangea bushes and dried them in a bowl in our kitchen (standing them up).  My kitchen doesn’t get a lot of sunlight so it was the perfect area to dry them.

I’ve paired them with things I had around the house: a wire basket that was from Decor Steals a few years back and some feathers I got at Michael’s last year.  I painted a gilded frame from Michaels in Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint® and wiped with a damp cloth just after it was dry.  I shared a tutorial on getting this look here. Then, I applied some dark wax to give it an aged patina.  I did the frame about two years ago.  The bottles were from North Conway and I got them from a thrift store for $1.50.

Fall Vingette

I love changing the decor on this cabinet in our dining room for the seasons:

Antiques and Hydrangeas

It is such a sunny spot next to our dining table.

The antique English kitchen chair is also a new addition.  A friend gave me a few of these chairs she no longer had room for.  Aren’t they gorgeous?!?

Comforts of Home Quote

I’ve created not one, but three free printables using this quote.  They are chalkboard printables (so if you’re like me and love the chalkboard look but don’t love your penmanship than you’re in luck).  Simply download the desired printable by clicking on the image, print and frame or hang on your wall.

One is simple and just script:

This is the one I used in my vignette:

Here is a third option:

These printables are for your own personal use.  I’m happy for you to share them with family and friends but please don’t sell them.

Wishing you and your family all the comforts of home this autumn!

I love your printable!! And your hydrangeas… WOW!! I tried to grow them once. Planted two bushes, which it proceeded to hail on, and they immediately died. I have hydrangea envy! So gorgeous, everything!!

Such a pretty vignette! I love the peacock feathers with the hydrangea! Sure hate to see summer on its way out though. I’m sure we still have some warm days to enjoy outdoors (it was 96 here today) Enjoy your fall decorating! Hugs, Leena

How do you use these free printables? Love them but not sure how to print or transfer to other items as shown in the pictures. Can you give me some pointers?

Thanks!
