Sick Daze

I’m sorry to say that today I don’t have any fun crafts, exciting recipes or witty comments on life.  Today I’m tired.  It all started with Luke leaving the house at 4am on Monday morning for a business trip to Tennessee and I should have known then.  When Luke goes away, the kids get sick….

John stayed home from school Monday, but then went on Tuesday.  I got the dreaded call from the nurse (while Conor’s playgroup was here).  No, not lice.  No, not the tummy bug (thankfully on both counts).  But I got that stern look and opinion that I probably shouldn’t have sent John to school with that cough.  A trip to the doctor and we discovered John had viral bronchitis.

When one gets sick, they both get sick.  Conor now has an ear infection, but was so happy to get the bubble gum medicine (I know how much I loved this medicine when I was little).

So although  I hate when the kids are sick we’ve had some fun moments, too.  This week has been filled with:

All of us in one big bed.

Cuddles on the couch.

Days spent in our jammies.

Movies and loads of TV.  Thank goodness for Wild Kratts, Wonder Pets, Super Why

Contagious Cookies – Toll House cookies that no one else can eat because we don’t want to pass on our germs.

Chicken Noodle Soup – with extra noodles, of course.

Making a huge banner to welcome Daddy home:

A huge pot of love with turkey chili.

I’m one of those people who likes to be out and about or doing crafts, but this week I haven’t been able to do much.  I did get the chance to escape to Spascape in Scituate Harbor last night for a much needed facial.

It was wonderful and so relaxing.  No runny noses.  No one yelling, “Mommy!” No one running around naked.”  Bliss.

Then I came home to this:

A hurricane must have hit the playroom!

Sigh.  Happy Friday, Everyone!

Oh no! I remember when I was a kid and my dad went on a business trip, all sorts of things would go wrong in the house (water heater exploding, getting locked out of the house, a leak in the roof, etc.). We called it the “daddy business trip curse.” Hope you guys get better soon!

Brenda, it is crazy. We doo have a ‘daddy business trip curse’. The worst was when I had a Stella & Dot party and Conor was sick with the tummy bug right when it started. Yuck!
