Pumpkin Craft

Are you looking for a fun, mess free pumpkin craft to do with your kids?  I have just the thing.  No cutting, no digging and scooping the innards of the pumpkin.

I came across these great decals from Martha Stewart when wandering around JoAnn’s  with Conor and couldn’t resist them:

They were only $3.99 and transfer on like kids tattoos.  Easy, peasy lemon squeezey.  I grabbed them still not sure what I wanted to do with them.  I didn’t know how well they would stand up outside so thought an inside craft may be fun.

On another trip to Jo Ann’s, I grabbed these pumpkins:

They come in the usual orange, but I thought white would look better on the fireplace with the black of the brick and the white surround.  These are called Funkins – foam pumpkins that you can carve.  They retail at $24.99 but Jo Ann’s was having a 40% off sale on them.  I think they look quite realistic for something fake.  Bonus with using something artificial is I can put it up the attic and pull it out next year, can’t really do that with a real pumpkin!
So, I had the boys help me pick out the faces that they liked the best or thought were the scariest / funniest.  Within, 10 minutes we had a great little Halloween decoration for our living room.  What do you think?

In my wanders around the internet I’ve found some other fun ideas you may want to try at home.  If you want something a little less traditional there are these funky decoupaged pumpkins.  They seem easy and look oh so pretty:

While flicking through  Better Homes and Gardens, I also came across these black and white newsprint pumpkins and thought they were so much fun.  Traditional and modern at the same time.  I love the newsprint leaves!

I’m planning on doing the mantel and some other decorations for autumn this week and will post once they are complete.  Happy Autumn!
