Our New Christmas Tree

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and black Friday. I’m so excited to share our NEW Christmas tree with you today!

Coastal Inspired Christmas Tree

This post is sponsored by my friends at Balsam Hill. They provided me with this gorgeous tree and Christmas decorations. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m so exited to be taking part in Balsam Hill’s 12 Bloggers of Christmas. You can see the full schedule at the bottom of this post.

French crackle ornaments in an ironstone bowl

I’ve shared a few Christmas posts leading up to Thanksgiving but this is the weekend we usually deck the halls around here. We put the tree up slightly early but Luke, John, Conor and I will be decorating the rest of the house, this weekend.

The glow of Christmas

I couldn’t resist these French Country Crackle Ornaments. Aren’t they elegant? They look gorgeous on a tree but also piled high in an ironstone bowl.

Twinkling and shimmering the glow of Christmas in our living room

As many of you know, we live on Boston’s south shore in a seaside town. Our decor is always inspired by the sea. Last year our tree was flocked with shimmering silver and white ornaments. This year, I decided to let my love for blue take center stage.

Shimmering sea glass ornaments

Deep navy and gold ornaments

These ornaments reminded me of sea glass. I love the deep navy mixed with the pale aquas. I used a few on our mantel too.

Christmas by the sea

The boys loved opening all the new boxes of ornaments. There were many ooohs and aahhhhs!

I love decorating with my kids. Hanging the ornaments on the tree (to Beach Boys Christmas album) is a tradition in our house.

Tips for decorating a Christmas tree

New England Christmas by the sea

We opted for a non-flocked tree this year. When I was growing up we always had a green tree. We decided on this beautiful 7″ Saratoga Spruce. I love the width and height in our living room. We don’t have a huge room but we do have high ceilings and this tree fit perfectly. I’m also so amazed at how life-like it looks. The branches look and feel like real pine.

It's okay to mix metals on a Christmas tree

The LED lights have a warm glow. I was worried they might look blue but that isn’t the case at all.

We added some sparkle with these Iced Glitter Twig Picks.

Shimmering branches add magic to a Christmas tree

These picks are quite large. So I ended up cutting some of the picks to put higher in the tree. 🙂 There’s a special tip for you!

Soft and whimsical tree

A top the tree is this gorgeous star.

We also added coordinating gold stars throughout the tree to warm up the blues.

Scituate Harbor Christmas

I love the above picture because it perfectly captures life in our home. Can you see all of Conor’s lego and army guys scattered across the playroom floor?

Here’s the view from the playroom door:

I’m so excited about the tree skirt. It’s faux fur and so soft. It reminds me of snow.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some help from our dogs, Max and Poppy.

Beautiful choices both tree and decorations. The tree skirt is perfect for your “ non-shed” tree. Tempted to skip on the real tree- I really hate getting rid of it after. Your home is looking beautiful.

What a lovely tree! I am very curious about this type of blogger- company arrangement . Don’t you have family ornaments that you use years to year? I guess that I don’t; quite understand the “all new ornament” idea? It just seems so impersonal – like something from a movie set. Sorry- I really don’t mean to be difficult , but I simply don’t understand this type of thing when I see it on blogs. We have ornament are treasured family things that we use year to year- some from when I was a child myself! IS this just something… Read more »
