GMC Hidden Treasure Adventure Home Reveal

“Its the friends we meet along life’s path, who help us appreciate life’s journey.”

I saw this quote when I was out running errands with my boys and while I’ve caught up on sleep, I haven’t forgotten the feeling of being on the most amazing adventure in my life…. ever.

Thanks to GMC and Habitat for Humanity for bringing us together and setting us off on America’s open road to find hidden treasures.  There were so many of them along the way, but I think more than anything it was the people. Friends I travelled with and people we met along the way who were the greatest treasure of all.

GMC Hidden Treasure Adventure

I’m sure you’re all patiently waiting to see the house!  Well, you’re going to see it in today’s post!  You may be scratching your head and thinking, hmmm, what can 6 bloggers do when paired with GMC, Habitat for Humanity, the World’s Longest Yard Sale and limited funds.  Wonder no further, here is what we did:

Habitat for Humanity House After Collage

As you walk in the front door of the home, you walk right into the Living Room.  This is the before:

Living Room 2 before

This is what Amy from The Idea Room did with it:

Living Room After

She created that artwork hanging above the couch at about 2 or 3am.  Isn’t it beautiful?!?  It is a hand drawn map of Ohio with a little heart where the house is.  I also love the shape of the couch, the “b” and the Coca Cola crate.  Then she created this beautiful reading nook by the stairs:

The living room opens into Kitchen / Dining Room.  Here’s how the kitchen was before Nick and Beth from Sawdust and Embryos transformed it –

And now:

Kitchen After

Amazing, right?!?  Would you believe it if I told you that those aren’t tiles but paint?!?

Close Up Painted Tile

Isn’t that amazing.  I LOVE how it came out.

Directly opposite the Kitchen is the Dining Room.  Pretty basic in the before:

And the “wow” after:

Beth hand painted the artwork you see hanging on the wall and I’m in love with the buffet they lightly washed in gray. Check out the hardware:

Upstairs the first room on your right is the office:

Office Before

Taryn from Design, Dining and Diapers really transformed this room with rustic and industrial finds.

Office 1 after

She built the shelves and created a desk out of a reclaimed door.  The door is the prettiest shade of green and the chair had stunning nail head trim which I LOVED.  How fantastic is the antique fan?!?

Across the hall is a room dedicated for the little boy to play in.  It was a tiny little spot before:

Playroom Before

Allison from Two Thirty Five Designs put her whole heart into the room creating a space that every child would love.  Sweet Ishmael couldn’t stop moving and playing with everything in sight.  It was like Christmas morning times a million.

Playroom After

Allison made the tent and the curtain rod and I’m sure she’ll be sharing full tutorials on her blog soon.

Playroom wall after

This mid century piece we found was perfect for new and vintage toys and the accent wall full of vintage records ties into the black color scheme.

Next door to the playroom, is the son’s bedroom.  Again, very basic before:

Boys Room Before

Nick and Beth also did this room and it is so sweet!  Ishmael actually leapt on his bed when he saw it.

Boys Room After

They made the headboard, lights and wall art.  They also did this really cool “dipped” dresser –

At the end of the hall is the rustic bathroom that Taryn designed:

Next to the bathroom (across the hall from the bedroom is the room I worked on which you saw the other day).  The before:

Here is the after with some shabby chic touches.

Also some antique and vintage finds –

So there it is, the Habitat Home we drove 700+ miles to search for treasures in our GMCs and had a few hours the night before to work on art and furniture and 6 hours to decorate that morning.  That is what 6 bloggers can do.  We will pour our hearts and souls into a project just as we do our blogs and our homes.

Books

I’m so grateful and feel so blessed that I was given this opportunity to create a home filled with love for TYC and Ishmael to come home to.

DIY Blogger House for Habitat

I have a feeling through this journey, this adventure, we’ll all be linked together for life.
