Front Hall Refresh Inspiration

Once the weather starts getting cooler and it’s time for spending more time indoors, I find myself wanting to change things on the inside. Today I’m sharing my Front Hall Refresh Inspiration.

I find myself craving less in our home. Our rooms aren’t huge and sometimes the spaces can feel cluttered when there’s too much in them. Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one who notices mess in our home and the only who cleans up. So I decided the front hall will no longer be a dumping ground for shoes and stuff. Honestly, we had a pile of shoes and baskets and baskets of shoes, flip flops and boots that didn’t even fit the boys. Tell me I’m not alone in going through this to make me feel better.

Okay, before I share the plans I want to show you how the front hall was looking:

This is right when you walk inside the door. I loved this Jenny Lind Bench but no one was sitting on it. I also loved the sunprints but decided to take them down. The floor mat is from LL Bean and the pillow is from my Society6 shop.

Further along is this vintage marble topped dresser:

This was last Christmas. Opposite the dresser is this farmhouse bench which I just had reupholstered last year.

I love the bench, but once again, no one sits on it. So I’ve decided to sell it. If you’re interested in it please let me know. I just had it upholstered last year in Annie Sloan fabric.

I decided to move the oriental rug upstairs to the landing. I just felt like it was getting dirty with the dogs and the boys tracking things in. I’ve decided to replace it with Vintage Vinyls floor cloth. Have you ever heard of Vintage Vinyls? My friend Nancy at the Sea Rose Cottage first told me about them and I fell IN LOVE with all their designs online. They custom print on vinyl and it looks like tile, wood inlay, gorgeous patterned rugs. The best part is vintage vinyls Floorcloths are they are nonslip and durable. If you look on Instagram Page here and here you can get a better idea of how the floorcloths look in a room. This is a great, short video on the floorcloths, too.

For the front hall I’m planning on using a black and white tile pattern.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

Wall Color – will remain the same, Muslin by Benjamin Moore.

I love the brass pendants but haven’t been able to find one that’s the right height. Many of this style are just too big, unfortunately. I’m thinking about painting that vintage mirror a different color. The marble topped dresser will stay as is and I’ll still have the antique barometer and brass table lamp.

The floorcloths will look like tile inlay on our wood floors. I love how these black and white patterns all have a timeless appeal. Which one do you like the best?

I want our front hall to be inviting and warm but also clean and tidy. It’s the first thing everyone sees when they enter our home. I’m really excited to see this all come together. What do you think of my plans? I can’t wait to hear!

I love the idea of the floor cloth, I think the first one is perfect, it looks a little like a compass rose and would go with your outdoor one, as well as your coastal vibe. And I agree that the mirror needs a pop of a deeper color. I am past the kids and shoes and book bags, but even two dogs and one husband can track in a lot of stuff, and when everyone is visiting, the “mess” is out of control. We live in a cape with no entry hall, so my storage has to be part… Read more »
