Favorite Trip

England

At the end of April, beginning of May Luke and I went to England. It was just the two of us and we drove around the countryside visiting family and friends and also seeing some things we’ve always wanted to. Of course, our favorite was seeing family. We started in Cornwall and on our 1st day down there we went to Trelissick Gardens. Let me know if you want me to share a more detailed post about the gardens.

We also loved reconnecting with friends in Bristol. We met in Bristol during my JYA and it was amazing to spend a few days where we met 25 years ago. We walked all over the city and reminisced.

Clifton Suspension Bridge

Clifton Suspension Bridge has always been a favorite place!

I shared a guide to London here.

Ireland

Whilst we were in England, Conor was on an exchange program to West Cork with the high school and he spent 10 days with Eoin’s family. You may remember we hosted Eoin last October. Well, it was such a wonderful experience for him and he’s now considered part of Eoin’s family. Conor can’t wait to go back one day! Conor took the photo below in West Cork:

Favorite Books

Jackie by Dawn Tripp – I loved this book. I got lost in it and felt I was really in the room with Jackie and Jack. Dawn did a wonderful job in humanizing many historical events in the book. Beautifully written. I had the pleasure of hearing Dawn speak about this book with Coffee with the Authors through Buttonwood Books last summer. I cried a lot reading it.

The God of The Woods by Liz Moore – I’ve just started this one. It’s set in an Adirondack summer camp and opens with the a missing camper back in August of 1975. Drama, mystery, secrets, summer… Perfect book to begin this summer…

Favorite Afternoon

I got to see Conor and his high school sailing team race and it really reminded me why we love our town so very much. Gorgeous blue sky day, lovely little sailboats gliding through the harbor.

Favorite TV / Films

Films

A Complete Unknown – I watched this on the plane coming home from England, it’s available to stream on Hulu. I don’t really know Bob Dylan’s story and didn’t have any expectations but I absolutely loved this film. I discovered I love so many songs by Bob Dylan, a true poet of a generation. Timothée Chalamet was amazing as a young Bob Dylan. He spent 5 years preparing for the role – learning harmonica, piano and singing. The supporting cast is phenomenal too.

TV

The Offer – on Paramount+. I watched the first episode on the plane, but we’re now watching it together. This is the story of the making of the Godfather and it’s fabulous.

Toward Zero – on Brit Box. This is an Agatha Christie 3 part series with Matthew Rhys. We binged this one and it was soooooooo good! I didn’t solve it but would love to hear if you do!

Favorite Feature

Back in April we were featured on Made in Mass and it was such a big highlight for me! Read more about the day here and see the feature here:

Favorite Comfy Shoes

I LOVE shoes! It was just my birthday this month so I got a pair of shoes from my mom and I bought myself two new pairs too. Here are the shoes I’m loving for summer:

Oofos – I hadn’t heard of these shoes before but they are light as cloud and are so cushioned. I feel like I’m wearing supportive slippers while running errands. I have the OOcooozie Sport Mule Shoe in purple jade. I’m a 5.5 and went up a size to a 6.

Aetrex – I found these in the harbor at Run House. I wear flip flops all summer and thought it would be good to get some flip flops with more of an arch support and Luke loves the innersoles by Aetrex. I got the Aetrex Maui in Mocha.

Jeffrey Campbell – Do you remember jellies?!? I loved mine so much. A friend had a pair of jellie ballet flats on and I asked her what they were. I found them at Nordstrom Rack. I thought they’d be perfect with jeans or sundresses this summer. They are flexible so don’t hurt my bunion either. I got the Day Off Flat in Clear, and I went up a to a size 6 because they don’t do half sizes.

What comfy shoes are you loving? I’d love to hear!

Favorite Floral Installation

I, of course, need to mention the beautiful floral installation by Beach Plum Floral at Lucky Finn. It was stunning. This year’s installation and a portion of floral and candle sales went to JPH Foundation. Watch a reel I created of the installation and you can see more photos here too.
