Friday Favorites (44)

Happy Friday, friends! It’s time for Friday Favorites, a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style, and more!

I can’t believe it’s already March! I’m so happy spring is here, although it’s still pretty chilly here in Massachusetts. I have so many favorites to share this month!

Favorite Day

Our favorite day was certainly St. Patrick Day! The Scituate St. Patrick’s Day Parade actually fell on St. Patrick’s Day so it was extra special.

It truly is a fantastic parade. Great for families (we’ve been taking the boys since they were little) and it is just good hearted fun. Lots of bands, bagpipe, floats, an honorary mayor, and so much more. We met friends down there and had an impromptu gathering with them in our yard.

My sweatshirt reads Prep and it’s from The Preppy Podcast. It’s a lovely hunter green.

I think Conor’s favorite part of the parade was seeing the Coast Guard.

Favorite Books

I’m reading Tom Lake by Ann Patchett and I really love it. The story centers around Lara and her daughters coming back to pick cherries at the family orchard during the pandemic. While picking Lara tells them stories about her years acting and dating a now famous actor. I really love the way Ann Patchett writes and I did a lot of theater in high school and college and love the theatrical elements she brings into this book. I also enjoyed The Dutch House and Bel Canto, also by Patchett.

Favorite Event

Selling stationery and home decor at gardening expo in the greenhouse

Last weekend we were at Kennedy’s for the Gardening Green Expo and we were all set up in the greenhouse. It felt so nice and warm and sunny. It was our first event of 2024 and was lovely to meet so many new people. I was especially excited to showcase our Irish Riviera Collection because it was the day before St. Patrick’s Day. You can see I’m holding one of our car magnets:

Look how beautiful all the plants are! I have to say a huge thank you to my husband who helped me set everything up.

Favorite New Bakery

A new bakery just opened in Scituate Harbor and it’s wonderful. Knead Bakery opened on St. Patrick’s Day weekend and we brought some pastries home. I’m excited to go back down there and have some tea and pastries or lunch. It’s really beautiful inside. A great new addition to the harbor.

Favorite TV / Films

We’ve been watching lots of amazing TV shows and films. Let’s start with films.

Films

Plus One – This one kind of reminded me of When Harry Met Sally. It’s about two friends who decide to be each others plus one to survive wedding season while being single. Very funny and a great date night with pizza in front of the TV movie. It’s on Netflix.

Astroid City – This is a star studded film by Wes Anderson set in a fictional town in the desert in the 1955. Think pastels, aliens, and quirky characters. Total eye candy and wonderful acting. It’s on Prime.

TV

The New Look – We are enthralled by this series it’s about Christian Dior and Coco Chanel and is set in 1940s Paris and also after the war. It depicts what life was like during Nazi occupied Paris and also Chanel’s tie with Nazis. We weren’t aware of this history and we’re finding it fascinating. Amazing sets, costumes, writing and acting. It’s on Apple TV.

Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy – We LOVE Agatha Christie and found this two episode series interesting. We didn’t figure it out. Let me know if you do! It’s on Brit Box.

Apples Never Fall – This is an adaptation of a book by Liane Moriarty and we haven’t read the book. It’s about a husband and wife who have just retired from the tennis academy they started. The mother (played by Anette Bening) goes missing. We’ve only seen the first episode but I’m already sucked in… It’s on Peacock.

Favorite Class

Pretty flowers and watercolors

I took a couple of fun botanical classes at Kennedy’s Country Gardens taught by my friend Tara Connaughton. It was such a relaxed setting to paint in the greenhouse and Tara is a wonderful teacher. It was fun to get some tips on painting flowers and stems and I’m excited to try out some new colors and paper brands.

Favorite Apparel

I’m dreaming of warmer, longer days and I’ve bought a few new things for me. Swimsuits and gauzy tops. See here:

The black scalloped swimsuit is currently on sale form J. Crew Factory Outlet and is so slimming!

Favorite New Product

We just launched the Hydrangea Collection and I LOVE the new tea towels and list pads. Here’s a peek if you missed it:

Favorite Day in Boston

As many of you know John is a senior and he’s starting to hear back from colleges. He doesn’t know where he’s going to go for sure yet, but we had fun at the accepted students day at MassArt. MassArt is the only independent public college for art in the country.

It was a lovely day celebrating the accepted students and we enjoyed a brunch and an award reception and also really enjoyed seeing all the facilities and the MAAM – the art museum.
