Fantastic Fish Pie!

Yummy Scrummy Fish Pie!

So, it is Lent so there is a large portion of people who can’t eat meat on Friday.  If you fall into this category and are sick of pizza you may want to try my hubby’s fantastic fish pie!  I’m in love with it (if it is possible to be in love with fish pie).

Fantastic Fish Pie
Ingredients
1 lb of white fish (we like cod, but whatever you prefer is good)
1/4 to a 1/2 lb of smoked fish
1/2 lb Frozen seafood mix  (calamari rings, scallops, shrimp) (optional if you have shellfish allergies)
1 C frozen peas
1 C frozen corn
4 boiled eggs
3 Tbsp. tartar sauce (we like Trader Joe’s)
Mashed Potatoes (enough to cover the pie)
Cheddar Cheese

For white sauce:
4 C Milk
1 Stick of Butter
1/2 C Flour

Poach the white fish in the milk for about ten minutes.  Remove the fish from the milk and set aside.   Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fry the flour in butter and add the milk  you used for the fish.  Whisk continuously until it’s simmering.  Then cook for ten minutes, stirring regularly to prevent sticking.
Make some mashed potatoes which will act as the crust:
After the white sauce is finished stir in tartar sauce and smoked fish (breaking it into large chunks):
Add the white fish and the frozen vegetables:
Stir to combine and place in a casserole dish:
Top with sliced hard boiled eggs and cover with the mashed potatoes.

Grate some cheddar cheese over the pie so it get nice and golden.  Bake for 45 minutes or until golden.
It is delicious.  Even our ‘naked chef’ loves it!

This recipe sounds great – I love fish pie and this looks like a nice easy recipe.
I will be leaving the shellfish out – I don’t have an allergy, just a pathetic aversion lol !!
