Deck the Halls (part 2)

So I’m sitting here with my tea and my Yankee ‘balsam and cedar’ candle flickering.  I don’t know about you, but I’m a real tree girl, but for the passed 5 years we’ve had an artificial tree.  My husband grew up with fake ones and I have to admit that I miss the smell of Christmas.  The candle is nice, but it isn’t the same thing.

Inspired by the house tour I went on with my mom in Scituate, I decided to add some more green to the mantel.  This is how it looked just with holly, but I wanted the house to smell like a Christmas tree.  Loaded with fresh greens, holly and juniper I got started:

The colors of Christmas

I redid the mantel first, adding some of the burlap garland I also used on the tree.  I got it from Jo-Anne’s if you’re looking for some.  Moved Maurice (our beta fish) into the kitchen and rearranged some of the decorations.

Here is what it looks like now:

Our snow globes are on display amongst the evergreen and holly.
The rustic stocking holders go so well with the burlap.  I’m really loving all the old fashioned, natural elements this year.
I filled a new red basket with greenery that is on the hearth and love how it picks up the vibrant red hues of our stockings and the holly berries.  I tied on some more burlap with a jingle bell and a bow:
Greenery is placed opposite the fireplace overlooking the staircase with an old trumpet:
I also added some holly near my desk with my shells and vintage globes.
And here is the full mantel:
Now all we need is some more egg nog and Santa to arrive 🙂

Your decorations are great. I love all of the little details. The starfish and old horn are my favorite! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
