Friday Favorites (60)

It’s time for Friday Favorites! I have a lovely mix of day trips, book recommendations, fun TV programs and festive fall ideas.

October has been a very, very busy month already with RISD family weekend, hosting an exchange student, the Arts Walk in Hingham, launching my 1st watercolor workbook, and now getting ready for Halloween & house guests.

I’m loving all the golden leaves and pretty flowers. I spotted these Montauk daisies on our walk to second cliff.

This beautiful tree belongs to our neighbor. The colors were spectacular this year! I’m loving driving along 3A and seeing all the trees. As the wind blows the leaves look like colorful confetti. Favorite Books

I’m reading Here One Moment from Liane Moriarty. This book is set on a plane and has an irresistable premise. A woman who can predict the age and manner of death of her fellow passengers. She starts telling them when and how. I can’t imagine knowing that information. I’m pretty early on in the book but so far I’m really enjoying it.

Favorite Weekend Away

Earlier this month we went down to Providence to visit John for family weekend. He absolutely loves RISD and has made wonderful friends. We went to the craft fair, listened to John speak on a panel, and saw some wonderful sites. The weather was perfect!

It was great to see what he’s working on. This year he’s trying out oil paints:

We stayed at The Graduate Hotel which was so much fun. The decor is kitschy and college themed. I loved the little keys hanging, the lacquered red paint, and the wallpaper.

We, of course, had to play foosball and giant connect four.

One place we absolutely loved and I think I would go there quite often to study if I lived in Providence was the Athenaeum. Look how beautiful that space is!!!

Favorite Comfort Food

The other day I had lunch with my mom at Trident in Hingham. On a cold and windy day, we enjoyed a cup of tomato bisque and half a grilled cheese. It’s the BEST comfort lunch. Perfect for fall and winter.

Favorite TV

Well, we have been so busy… We haven’t watched much TV wise, but we’re watching the new season of The Morning Show which I enjoy.

Favorite Program

Our younger son, Conor, just took part in the French Exchange Program with Sucy-en-Brie and we hosted Manon. We miss her so much already and had such a great time being a part of this program. It really is lovely to see two countries come together and a celebration of cultures. Conor is looking forward to going over to France for a visit with the group.

Favorite Day Trip

Last weekend we took a day trip to the Cape and it really is a lovely time to go! Great weather, no traffic crossing the bridge, and so many fun shops. Here are a few shops you may want to check out:

Favorite Celebration

Last Sunday marked the 20th annual Hingham Arts Walk and we had so much fun outside of Acquire Good. Wow, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was so festive. We had a great time!

Congrats on your workbook!!! I have been so busy and I need to catch up on your posts. I see you had a give-away and I missed it!!! ;( I was wondering if you would be doing another workbook with nature, flowers and trees/ those are the things I like to paint/draw. Sea shores and sunsets too! I think the book is a great idea. I know I just want to get in and paint but I get so stuck on the beginning outline drawing. My favs from your work as always been your bunny, trees bookmarks, ocean, sunsets AND… Read more »
