Late Fall Entertaining and Few Gift Ideas

Here in New England we’re having some amazing fall weather and the leaves are spectacular. Soon it will be time to put all our patio furniture away but for now we’re enjoying family time out on the deck. I thought I’d share some fall entertaining ideas and a few Christmas gift ideas today. Hey, it’s never too early to get started, right?

This post is sponsored by Uncommon Goods. They sent me a few products to try out and I love them!

Uncommon Goods is based in Brooklyn, New York and is very much interested in promoting the artists and artisans who make their unique products. I had a hard time choosing only a few things. They have such beautiful gifts and all have a unique story.

Like many of you, with kids and pets, are weekends are so busy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw a fun last minute gathering.

I set the table with our every day plates and cutlery and dressed it up with greenery – eucalyptus leaves and some sunflowers. I usually do a large vase in the center but this Hobnail Ombre Pitcher and glasses by Uncommon Goods is just so beautiful that I thought it needed to take center stage!

Look how it glistens in the light.

Hobnail Glasses are Perfect for Cocktails #sponsored

These glasses are mouth blown in Mexico with recycled glass. I was so surprised how heavy they are. Sometimes online you can’t see the quality of pieces or gauge a weight. These glasses are amazing and perfect for some fall sangria.

The pitcher has a beautiful ombre color and would also look gorgeous filled with flowers. This is the perfect gift for any cocktail lover. In fact Uncommon Goods offers a huge selection of handblown and handmade glasses that make perfect gifts.

As if these glasses couldn’t be more delicious, they were perfect filled with my autumn sangria.

Delicious Sangria Recipe I Fall Entertaining

Fall Sangria Recipe

  • Chardonnay
  • Ginger Ale
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Ice

Honestly, this is so cute and easy to whip up. Simply add ice to your pitcher. Pour chilled chardonnay to the half way point and top with ginger ale. Add fruit of your choice. For this fall vibe I added sliced apples and oranges. The fruit soaks up the sangria and I love saving that for the last mouthful.

My kids adore cheese. All kinds of cheese. We found this delicious goat’s cheese and artisan crackers at the supermarket. There were no “leftovers”.

I also threw together the most delicious autumn salad. I’ll share this recipe next week. It’s so easy….and healthy!

I served the salad in old ironstone to dress it up a bit!

Easy Entertaining

Is there anything better than eating outside with family and sipping delicious cocktails?

Oh, I have to share this photo of Luke and Max. Isn’t he the cutest little puppy? (I know I have to give you another update on him, as it’s been about two weeks since my last one). 😉

Entertaining Ideas the Whole Family Will Love

Uncommon Goods also sent me these very cool whisky stones. They came in this cute little box complete with a pouch to keep them in the freezer.

Wisky Stones - a great stocking stuffer for the wisky lover!

These would make a great stocking stuffer! My husband LOVES whiskey but he doesn’t like to water it down. So I knew he’d love these.

On Saturday he enjoyed an Old Fashioned while we feasted on cheese and salad.

An Old Fashioned I Delicious Recipe for an Old Classic

I thought I’d share his recipe!

Luke’s Old Fashioned

  • Half a teaspoon sugar
  • Angostura Bitters
  • 2 Maraschino cherries
  • 2 Slices of Orange Peel and Pith
  • Rye or Bourbon
  • Whisky Stones (or Ice)

In a whiskey glass, put the sugar and add 4 drops of the Angostura bitters (more to taste). One cherry and one slice of orange peel, muddle together in the bottom of the glass. Half fill the glass with ice or whisky stones (stir to cover with muddled sugar and fruit). Add more ice or whisky stones to fill the glass. Squeeze the second orange peel over the drink and place in glass. Fill to to[p with Rye or Bourbon, stir until mixed. Add second Maraschino cherry on a stick. Sip and Enjoy!

Don’t they look delicious?

An Old Fashioned I Delicious Recipe for an Old Classic

I know guys can be so hard to buy for, but Uncommon Goods has a huge section of gifts for husbands 😉 I think Luke might like the taco socks. Ha! Ha!

There were so many items I LOVED on their site. This double fern necklace is so beautiful and perfect for the nature lover. Each one begins with real leaves. We love pizza in our house so this soapstone pizza pan adds old world charm with copper handles. It is handmade in Brazil. Maps are fun and these coasters would be a great addition to any home and can be customized.

I honestly can’t believe it’s already November. We’re going to try and enjoy every last bit of fall before the snow. But I’m starting to gather Christmas ideas.
