Sunday Night Slumber Party

It is Sunday night and our bedroom is still a work in progress.  I was hoping I’d be able to share some photos, but no cigar! You’ll have to settle with some other cute pictures…

We couldn’t start our painting project until a huge crack was fixed in our wall at the request of our 2 year old.  I think my husband would have happily left it, but Conor persisted.  He kept pointing at the crack, saying, “Tools, fix it.”  So that is just what they did.  My three boys patched the crack.  First they scraped it open:

Then they sanded and taped it:
Then loads of joint compound and more sanding:
Conor loved this bit and actually did a very good job.  He’s so happy the crack is no longer there.  He certainly, “Fixed it!  Good as new!”
We spent most of the day moving all our furniture into John’s room.  It is quite a feat considering John’s room is not very big.  Then we painted the ceiling, walls and trim in our bedroom and I think it looks really great.  I love how a newly painted room can look so fresh, clean and bright.  But you’ll have to wait for these photos.  We have a couple of bedroom projects planned – a DIY headboard and some chalk painted furniture.  But I don’t want to tell you too much just yet.  Fingers crossed it all turns out as I’m picturing my head.
My fantastic parents watched the boys today.  We really are so grateful for their help watching our two monkeys and looking after our dog, too.  It wouldn’t have been possible to get it all done today juggling our three little ones.
As a thank you we celebrated with a roast dinner.  Our bellies are full of delicious organic chicken from Whole Foods that we dusted with Seasonello (an Italian Seasoning).  Poppy loved the table scraps.
Roasted veggies with Tuscan olive oil
and purple potatoes from Sweet Georgia P’s (from our last share for the season *sigh*).
But as you can imagine with any DIY project our home is quite a mess.  Here’s John’s room filled with his furniture and our’s.  Take a look, it actually looks like a consignment or antique shop:
Poppy’s usual hang out spot of under our bed or John’s was ‘cruely’ taken away and she walked aimlessly around the house unsure where to rest her head.
So John won’t be sleeping in his bed, but in Conor’s room and hopefully they will  sleep like two cozy monkeys (fingers crossed):
Our boys with their sock monkeys.
Luke and I will glamorously be sleeping on the living room floor (on our mattress) with Poppy sleeping close by on her own comfy bed.  A Sunday Night Slumber Party at the our house.  Sweet dreams!
All ready for camping on the floor.
PS We all ended up in our bed at 5:30am – the two of us, two boys and a Poppy, plus additional snuggly toys!
