Summer Favorites

Ah, summer! How I love the slower days, the warmer temperatures, and days soaking up the salt air.

All winter I dream of these days on the beach and by the pool with my family and dogs.

As you can imagine, I have many summer favorites! I thought I’d round up my favorites for home, the beach, and apparel. Simply click on the button or the bolded text to read more about each favorite. Summer Favorites for the Yard

We spend so much time outside in our yard in the summer months and love entertaining in this space. Over the years we’ve collected some of my favorite things to relax and unwind.

Hammock

The hammock was a gift for Luke for Father’s Day one year and it has stood up remarkably well!

I love the look of a hammock hanging between trees but we don’t have any trees big enough in our yard. The green stand has been wonderful! I shared more about our hammock.

You can usually find one of us or the boys here with a book.

Classic Adirondacks

I LOVE white Adirondack chairs. To me there is nothing more coastal. We’ve had our Adirondacks for a number of years and love them. They’re very comfortable and have stood up (even left outdoors all winter). These chairs are made of recycled plastic. We simply power wash them at the start of each season. Fire Pit

This has been wonderful in all seasons. In fact, the kids and Luke gave it to me as an early birthday present during the pandemic. We enjoy toasting marshmallows and sipping drinks by the fire. They no longer make the size pictured. See more about cozy nights by the fire pit.

Outdoor Movies

Pass the popcorn! There’s nothing more magical than a movie night outside in the summer under the stars. This inflatable movie screen is wonderful. Our kids love having friends over and watching films from the pool. Read more about setting up an outdoor movie night.

Pool Fun

Both adults and kids love our pool basketball net. It may not be magazine worthy but it brings hours of fun in our pool.

Favorites for the Beach

As you know, we spend A LOT of time at the beach and I have clear favorites when it comes to what we bring, wear, and pack. This is from years of doing this.

Favorite Sun Hat

The older I get the more I try and be careful with the sun. I have two hats by this specific brand and they’re great! They are crushable which means you can pack them if you’re going away. I’ve brought these hats to France and Spain. They still look as good as the day I bought them.

Favorite Sunscreen

Speaking of the sun! My favorite sunscreen is by Super Goop. I first learned about the brand on How I Built This and have been buying their sunscreens ever since. I like the unseen sunscreen for my face and the Play sunscreen for every day. I also like to buy the Trader Joe’s sunscreen.

Favorite Swim For Kids

I always bought our kids the Mini Boden swimsuits and rash guards. They used to always get a horrible rash from the sand but never did with these. They also make great beach cover-ups.

Aw, what a blast from the past! This was Conor at his third birthday here in our home.

Favorite Men’s Swim Trunks

We love Fair Harbor! They make swimsuits out of recycled bottles. I’ve been buying my hubby swim trunks from there for ages. They also do matching Dad and Son swim trunks. Super cute for Father’s Day or summer twinning! Conor is wearing a men’s size medium here.

Favorite Beach Reads

I love light books for summer reading on the beach. I also prefer paperback. Here are a list of some books that I loved reading and think would make great beach reads:

Favorite Sunglasses

I love my Maui Jim’s. I never leave home without them. I love that they’re polarized too. Luke also has a pair.

Favorite Summer Apparel

I love these dresses and trousers by Title Nine. Their round trip clothing is wicking and also non-wrinkle so perfect for travel or after the beach!

Summer Favorites for Interiors

Favorite Bed

I’m still IN LOVE with our rattan bed we bought a few years ago. It has that summer island feel!

Favorite Pendant Light

This capiz pendant in our bedroom is still a favorite!

Favorite sconces

These are also in our bedroom and whilst a splurge I’m still in love by the pretty glow they give our bedroom. You can see more of our bedroom.

Favorite Blanket

I LOVE Chappywraps for inside and outside. I thought it was all hype until I got one. Now I have two and everyone in my house tries to steal them from me. We’ve also given a bunch as gifts. See more about this coffee table and our cornishware (also great for summertime).
