Friday Favorites (59)

It’s time for Friday Favorites! I have a lovely mix of book recommendations fun TV programs and some quiet musings.

Well, September has turned out to be quite the month – two amazing birthdays – my mom’s 85th and Conor’s 16th. Yay! It brought the launch of our 2026 Desk Calendar but also had me recovering from appendicitis and surgery and we said farewell to our beloved Poppy. She would have been 15 on the 30th. In time I plan on writing a post all about her.

I’m hoping for a quieter October (fingers crossed).

Okay, let’s get on with Friday Favorites. Are you ready?

Favorite Pastime

We love going on long walks. We’ve resumed our long walks to the cliffs and the lighthouse and just love starting or ending our day that way! Max seems pretty happy about the long walks too.

Favorite Apples

A few years ago during covid we planted apple trees and this is the first year John’s tree, a Cox’s Orange Pippin, has apples on it and they are so delcious!

Favorite Books

Nantucket Looms’ A Legacy of Style – I LOVE everything about this book. It combines the history of Nantucket, the history of the Nantucket Looms shop, and the most stunning home tours all with a beautiful understated refined coastal style. I actually loved it so much I also gifted my mom a copy for her birthday. It’s a wonderful book.

The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware – This is a very quick read. In fact, I read most of it in the ER with appendicitis. It’s the second book in the same series of The Woman in Cabin 10 which has been made into a film with Keira Knightly.

Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld – I’m currently reading this and I’m about half way through it. It’s a rom com and set on a show like SNL. I loved some of Curtis’ other books including – Prep and American Wife.

Favorite Way To Find Inspiration

I love popping into small shops and little markets. We had the opportunity to do that on two different Saturdays. If you’re local you may want to check out the following places:

Galway Girl – in Duxbury Girl. Wonderful spot for Irish goodies. I mean look at all those treats – we were in heaven!

Shelves with Irish cookies, teas, and treats

B. Home – across the street from Galway Girl is B. Home and it’s filled a wonderful mix of vintage, antiques, and crafted finds. I love shopping here!

I know you all like antiques and vintage too. So here’s a peek at some things I loved inside the shop:

Scrub pine cabinet – ooooh, so lovely…

Duxbury Supply Company – is a wonderful mix of antiques and vintage and new home decor finds. It’s a beautiful shop. You may remember I found that beautiful candelabra and tall candles there.

Lyric Vendors – in Marshfield. Our friend Dan owns this record shop and it’s filled with loads of great vinyl. Dan really knows his stuff and his prices are resonable and wonderful quality. Everyone in our home is currently collecting records.

We also stopped by Old Stables Vintage Market and it was so lovely. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and there was a mix of homemade food, vintage and antiques, art, photography, jewelry and floral design. The Dinghy food truck was there and I got a chance to catch up with so many friends. I hope they do it again next fall. Below is my friend Ginny of G&M Design.

Favorite TV / Films

We have been watching lots on TV this month.

Favorite TV

The Residence on Netflix – Oooh, if you like things like Poirot or Knives Out then you will love this. There’s a death in the White House during a state dinner. Was it an accident? Was it murder? Watch and find out!

With Love, Meghan on Netflix – I binge watched this whilst recovery on the couch and I really enjoyed it. Great crafts, recipes, and simple ideas for entertaining. Beautifully filmed in California.

Saving the Manor on HBO Max – I couldn’t get enough of this show. If you love English style, old homes, and restoration then you’ll love this. Dean and Borja are saving the manor and their doing it all on their own.

Marlow Murder Club on PBS – The small town of Marlow seems to have a problem with murders. Wonderful. We really liked the first season better than the second one though.

Favorite Films

Thursday Murder Club on Netflix – we read the book and I actually like the film better! This star studded cast brought the story to life and it was so much fun.

Favorite New Products

We just launched the 2026 Desk Calendar which is a collaboration between me and Luke. We really love doing this each year and I’m always so excited to share it with you and love how you gift it to friends and family. I shared more behind the scenes on the blog. You can see the calendar here in our online shop and it’s also available in small retailers too.

I also have to share the NEW mermaid sticker. She’s just so adorable on water bottles or on things for school.

I’m so sorry to hear about Poppy! It’s so hard when our fur babies pass on. 😢 Our last one was 17 1/2 years old and I still miss her every day. I do love your suggestions on books, shows and movies. I always keep a list and them go through and watch and read them. So far, they have all been great! I hope you have a wonderful autumn!
