Friday Favorites (57)
Well, it’s the last Friday in July and I’m not sure how this month flew by so quickly. I love summer and always wish I could make time slow down in these warmer months. I have so much to share in Friday Favorites today.

Favorite View
This is why we live in Scituate! Look at those cotton candy clouds over the lighthouse. This was the view from TK O’Malley’s back patio the other night.

Favorite Books
Truly Madly Guilty by Leane Moriarty – This is from the same author as Big Little Lies. I enjoyed the book and the series. This isn’t a new book, I got it at a library book sale and had it on my shelf for a while. This book took a little while to get into but really enjoyed the twists and turns. The premise – something goes wrong at an ordinary BBQ in a quiet neighborhood.
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman – I took this one off John’s bookshelf and if I’m honest it’s quirky. It centers around a failed bank robber who takes a group of people hostage at an open house. I really loved his book A Man Called Ove and I want to read Bear Town.
Favorite Trip
We just got back from the most amazing camping trip with friends on Lake George in upstate New York. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I’m currently working on a post all about this trip so let me know if you have any specific questions in the comments.

Favorite TV / Movies
We’ve been watching A LOT of TV and movies and I have so many great ones to share.
Favorite TV
Department Q on Netflix – Matthew Goode stars in this series from the writer / director of the Queen’s Gambit. It’s a crime drama set in Scotland and we love it!
Untamed on Netflix – starring Eric Bana as a special agent for the National Park Service. There’s deaths and murder, missing people, cold cases. This one kept us guessing right up until the end.
Favorite Movies
Superman at the cinema – We absolutely LOVE the new Superman. It really reminded me of my childhood. We saw it in the cinema on a giant screen. Perfect date night!
On the Rocks on Apple + – Directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Rashida Jones, Marlon Wayans, and Bill Murray. It’s a bittersweet commedy in which a young mother and wife thinks her husband is having an affair. Very well written and in parts very funny.
Deep Cover on Prime – A very funny comedy where improv actors become undercover agents. Funny but violent in some areas.
Accountant 2 – Starring Ben Affleck. This is a sequel to the first Accountant and really well done. Good date night in movie!
Favorite Museum
We visited the Mass Moca Museum in North Adams for the first time with the boys and it truly was amazing. The museum is all contemporary art and we really loved it. It’s housed in an old electric factory and the building itself is so cool, from chipping brick to high ceilings and gorgeous light. We loved the Vincent Valdez exhibition and enjoyed seeing the art he created when was a teen and his RISD art.

We also loved Spencer Finch’s Cosmic Latte.

The museum and art it houses is vast. We could have easily spent the ENTIRE day here!
Favorite Swimsuit
My FAVORITE swimsuit is currently on sale!!! I love this one from Fair Harbor and have had it for a year and it still looks brand new. I just found out other colors are now on sale so I ordered it in black and navy. All colors are $49 – that’s half off. I love this bathing suit because it holds everything in and it isn’t too revealing on the behind. Feels very classic. Grab a swimsuit for yourself here.

Favorite Summer Recipe
Is there anything better in summer than caprese salad? I love making this with our fresh tomatoes and basil. Slice a little mozzarella and place it on a pretty platter to pair with grilled fish, meat, or veggies. It’s the perfect go to summer side. Get my easy caprese salad recipe here.

Favorite Paint Brushes
July marks World Watercolor Month and I couldn’t let the month go by without sharing my watercolor brushes. I developed these watercolor paintbrush sets with a small US based manufacturer. They are Kolinksy Synthetic Sable and perfect for beginners through to advanced painters. These are the brushes I use for my own watercolors.

Things have been very busy here behind the scenes as I’ve been working on a watercolor workbook with videos which will be launching very, very soon! Eeek! I’m so excited to share it with you!
Favorites for the Garden
We’re planting beautiful heirloom roses from England. I first learned about David Austen Roses from a friend on Instagram who has a beautiful garden. This summer our projects have taken longer than anticipated and we still have yet to plant the climbing rose we bought. I will share a post once I have the crushed shells around all the roses, but for now here’s a peek:

Another new favorite for the garden is this watering can from Ikea. It’s metal and the perfect size. Bonus is that it looks pretty out on on back steps.

Favorite for Petite Friends
I’m 5 ft and 1/2 inch tall. That half inch is really important. Ha! Ha! Well, honestly, it’s really a struggle for me to find clothes that fit well, especially trousers and dresses. I saw Short Story advertised on Facebook and thought it sounded perfect. They send boxes once a month and you fill in a questionnaire with all your sizes and preferences and a stylist helps you find clothes that are perfect for you and your body. All clothes are for people 5’4″ and under! I got my first box and loved it. If you struggle to find clothes for your petite size too I thought you’d love Short Story and you can save the $25 styling fee with my link. Here’s a peek at one of the outfits they sent:

Is Short Story the cutest name for a petite brand or what! Thanks for the link, my sisters-in-law will love it. At 5’ 3/4” tall, I don’t qualify.
I agree, summers on the south shore are sublime.
Hi Beverly, isn’t that the cutest name? I hope your sister-in-law loves it as much as I do! Summers here are the BEST! Danielle xx
The gray print is difficult to read.
Hi Glenda, Thanks for the feedback. I’ll see if we can make the print more legible. Thanks, Danielle
Okay!!!!….Ya got me with the beautiful Blue Willow platter. I had one like that and it was the only thing that broke in my move ;( The food looks good too!!!
At 5’5″ I don’t qualify for the short styles…..glad you did find it. 😉
Have a great weekend!!!
Don’t the tomatoes look stunning on that platter. I thought of you when I was slicing them. Oh, no. I’m so sorry your platter broke in your move. Aw, boy, do I wish I was 5’5″, Josette. The perfect height! Have a lovely weekend xx
