French Linen Coffee Table

I’m so excited to share this little coffee table makeover with you today!

French Linen Coffee Table (After)

After finishing up on Colleen’s Paris Grey dining room chairs, she asked if I could freshen up her coffee table.  There was nothing wrong with the table, but she wasn’t loving the green anymore.

Coffee Table (Before)

She was also getting a new couch with a herringbone pattern and nailhead trim.  Her rug has such beautiful colors in it – similar to many Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors – Provence, Duck Egg Blue, French Linen, Paris Grey we thought something more neutral would look nice.

We decided to add a bit of shabby chic to the table with a two toned distressed effect.  We opted for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite (a soft black / grey) and then two coats of French Linen (a wonderful mushroom color).  Here’s a close up of the distressing:

I applied two coats of Annie Sloan Clear Wax to seal and protect the painted finish.  We also decided to change the stain on top.  It was cherry before, but we thought Special Walnut would give it a bit more warmth and go better with the new color.  I sanded the top with my palm sander and then did one coat of Special Walnut.  To seal I applied four coats of Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.

MMS Milk Paint Hemp Oil
I LOVE this wood finish.  It really brings out the grain and deepens the hue of the stain. It also has a nice nutty aroma.  I’ve mentioned it before and I’m sure I’ll keep talking about it.
Here’s how the top looked after:

Colleen absolutely LOVES her new table.  She likes the distressed details:

She loves the new color and the Special Walnut stain.  I took these after photos in my living room, but I can’t wait to see how it looks with her new couch!

It looks great! You use the ASCP a lot so I know my question is kinda silly, but would you mind e-mailing me and letting me know if it’s really worth $50 a quart? That’s the price I keep finding.

Yes, I think it is worth every penny. My stockist has her paint for $36.99 a quart. I’ll send you an email! x
