Beach Hooks

(After)
I can almost picture a light pink swim suit carelessly hung on one of these pegs drying after a day of building sandcastle on the beach.  Or maybe a small straw hat carefully placed after a glass of wine and pizza by the sea.
(After)
On this one I can picture, some dress up clothes or old baseball caps.  Wouldn’t it look sweet in a little boys room?
Perhaps, you may want to see what they looked like before.  I think they are probably 30 years old and are very well made, but the style was leaving a bit to be desired:
(Before)
See what I mean?  A little rustic for my liking.  We drilled holes in them to allow for easy hanging and then I got my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint out.
I did the Beach Sign in my favorite Duck Egg Blue and stenciled the letters in Old White:
Then I got fine grade sandpaper and lightly distressed for that shabby chic look I love so much.  On the Sailboat Hooks I used Paris Grey and then stenciled the sailboats on in Napoleonic Blue:
This one was also lightly sanded.  Both were waxed with Annie Sloan’s clear wax for protection.
What do you think?  Both are looking for a new home and would be a fabulous way of bringing the beach to your own home.  I know I can’t wait to actually enjoy a beach day once the weather is warm enough!

Great makeover. I love your paint choices! I think I might have to break down and buy some ASCP.

Thank you so much. You’ll love the chalk paint once you try it. I don’t think I can go back to latex now…
