Top Posts from 2022

A look back at the top posts from 2022!

Happy New Year, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Eve!

Our Christmas holiday was slightly different than planned. In my last post, I shared that my mom was unwell and I’d be caring for her. I spent most of Christmas vacation at her home and the boys and dogs brought Christmas to us! It is times like those where you realize what truly is important.

Before I start sharing new content with you (I currently don’t have anything new YET), I wanted to take a look back at 2022! This year brought lots of hard work – both in my online shop and in home improvement projects. I developed new products for our online shop including new note cards, the 2023 calendar (that I already had to print more because we sold out), stickers, notepads, tea towels and original paintings. We were featured in South Shore Home Life and Style in the summer and another magazine feature just came out, but I’ll share more about that really soon. I also took part in lots of fun and exciting markets and events; it was so much fun to chat with customers but also meet so many amazing brands and makers. 2022 was the year of stretching and reaching and getting out of my comfort zone. I branched out into Surface Pattern design – I took Bonnie Christine’s Immersion course back in the spring and launched a collection of wallpaper, fabrics, and home decor elements on Spoonflower (more will be coming soon). I actually have over 50 patterns designed and more line drawings I’m working on for a new collection.

This year we were also able to travel and it was wonderful – a trip to Cornwall for a wedding in March, a day trip to Newport, Rhode Island, and an amazing family vacation to Paris and a Spanish Villa where we met most of Luke’s side of the family.

Despite so many fun things. There were health problems on both sides of our family, we have our fingers crossed for a healthy year ahead for 2023! Let’s get on with the favorites, shall we?

This post reflects all your favorites. I’m sharing our top 10 posts based on page views. Simply click on the button under each section to read more.

1. Simple Christmas Decorating Ideas

I know everyone has packed up the Christmas decorations or is in the process of that, but if you want to save this post for next year for some budget friendly ideas. I went really simple this year including naked trees with just fairy lights. Lots of antiques mixed in with fresh greenery too.

2. The BEST Watercolor Paper

Watercolor papers with text How to Choose Watercolor Paper

Purchasing arts and crafts supplies can be overwhelming especially when you’re just starting out. I remember wanting to cry in the first watercolor class I took because all of my supplies were awful. If you’ve ever wondered what the best watercolor paper is for you, you’ll love this post.

3. How to Use Milk Paint

I LOVE authentically old looking chippy furniture. Do you love that look? I love objects that just have lots of patina with that “found” look. Let me teach you how to achieve this look on curbside finds.

4. Coastal Cozy Bedroom

Coastal blue and white bedroom

Well, it seems you guys all really LOVE room reveals still. Our bedroom makeover took me a year to do, but it felt perfect to share it with you last year. This room is filled with lots of DIYs and upcycled furniture if you’re looking for some project inspiration this year.

5. Natural Make Up

I love the natural look when it comes to most things including my make up. I adore these products and also love that they are natural and not tested on animals.

6. Garden Shed

Family building a garden shed

This was a whole family project and I’m glad you enjoyed reading it as much as we did building it and styling it. I must admit the shed is still not 100 percent styled because we need to move two trees that are in front of it. If you’re new around here and missed this post, we spent a week building a shed with our boys. Luke is loving his new tool shed.

7. What is Coastal Grandmother Style?

When I first heard about this design style I was scratching my head, but then I realized it pretty much is my style. In this post I broke down what it was and how to get the look.

8. Everything You Wanted to Know About Shiplap

Guide to shiplap walls

We installed shiplap walls in our she shed / pool house and I LOVE them. I often get so many questions about paint color, how to install, or just ideas with shiplap I thought I’d write a post all about it.

9. Cozy Fireplace

I don’t LOVE winter. I know this might be so unpopular to say but I love summer. I love sunshine and warm weather. In winter I’m often cold. You can be sure you’ll find me right here by the fire. It’s my favorite spot to read books and magazines.

10. Winter Dining Room

Another thing I find hard in winter, especially post-holidays is decorating. It just seems a bit bleak – the gray, the dark, the cold. Anyway, I usually rely on antiques and blue and white to get me through. You may want to check this out for some cozy winter ideas.

Well, that’s the top 10 for 2022. Did you have a favorite post? I must admit I was surprised our new patio didn’t make the list, BUT I plan on really styling this space and have a modular dining idea I’m excited for Luke to build. I have lots of dreams for this little outdoor area including the possibility of some in person watercolor classes. We’ll see!

Thank you so much for all you support last year and I’m looking forward to a whole new year with you!

I loved them all. I enjoy reading what you are up to with your older home and watercolors.
It makes me remember my (year) 1905 home. And I love your style of watercolors. That lettuce is sooooo perfect!!!!
Many bloggers have winded down and I wish it was all just starting. It is like a sisterhood and I am sad to see some go.
I hope your mom is feeling better and how lucky is she to have you so close.
Welcome back and Happy, Heathy 2023!!!
