Home For Sale

You read that right! After nearly 6 years in our current home we’ve decided to put it up for sale.  It is going on sale today.

Our Home

We love our home.  It is a 2095 square foot split entry with a large deck and fenced in yard in the back.  The home is in walking distance to three lovely beaches – Egypt, North Scituate and Minot.  There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a playroom and large living room area.  This house is so special to us. It is our very first home and we moved here, to Scituate, when John was just 18 months old because we wanted to live near the sea.

In this home, I discovered my love for decorating and my style.  We rented two flats in London and one apartment in Newton, MA before coming to Scituate.  I wasn’t really allowed to decorate prior to this and with this home I got to experiment with color and discover things I love.

For those who read the blog regularly you’ll know my style – beachy, shabby chic with a twist of country thrown in.  I love mixing together sea glass colors with painted oars, hand-painted furniture, driftwood and old blue mason jars filled with cut flowers.  It has been such a fun journey from working our fireplace to:

Fireplace Makeover

To building our headboard:

Our DIY “Reclaimed” Wood Headboard

It has been a pleasure to share this all with you.  In this home we’ve thrown many parties:

and brought home a few babies.  Conor in 2009 and our little Poppy in January of 2011:

Poppy’s first time in snow at 3 months!

This blog was also born here!  We’ve had so many happy days and times in this home that it will be hard to leave it, but we need a little bit more space.  Luke has been working from home for quite some time and really needs a door on his office.  Then there is all my furniture!  The furniture I paint to sell and the custom furniture I paint for others.  I often joke about my studio / kitchen, but it has come time that I really do need a studio space.  My large kitchen has become too small for the big pieces of furniture people are asking me to paint.

We love Scituate and the South Shore and are not planning on going far (if all works out with selling our home).  Please keep your fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.  If you are local and want to pop by to see our home; the first open house will be this Sunday, March 3rd from 1-3pm.  For more information, please contact our real estate agent, Tanya Ames, here.

Good Luck with the sale! That area is beautiful. We have a cottage in Ocean Grove near Fall River and spend about a month there during the summer. They have great auctions and good places to buy furniture. Would love to see your studio while I’m there.

Thank you, Deby! Scituate is a beautiful town. We love it here. I’ll have to check Fall River out for furniture! Fingers crossed I find a home with a little studio and I’d love for you to pop by!

Wow.. how I would love for the opportunity to arise for us to move there! Of course, I don’t see that happening any time soon, as we are in Alabama. But, our self-guided lighthouse tour in Maine, NH, VT, Delaware, Conn., etc, etc…. Made me long to live in Scituate… one of my top 3 favorites of the 45+ lighthouses we saw on that trip! Good luck and keep us up to date! I can’t wait to see your next home!
