Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, my friends!  I really feel the above quote is true – your feet will take you where your heart is.  At least, that is how I feel about my own life.  My heart belongs to Scituate – our little seaside town known as the Irish Riviera!  If you’ve been reading the blog for a while then you know a highlight for us is the St. Patrick’s Parade.

Many people line Front Street to enjoy hot dogs and sausages and coffee while cheering on the parade.  This year marked the 20th anniversary of the parade. We haven’t missed a parade since moving to Scituate 6 1/2 years ago.  I was worried we’d miss this year because John had been so unwell this week, but he’s feeling so much better.

Yesterday was pretty cold – low 30s and a wind off the water, but still they came and played and cheered.  There were military marching bands. My eyes couldn’t help filling up.

Lots of candy being thrown into the streets – my boys loved this part, of course!

It is moments like this that make Scituate such a special place to live.  Friends coming together to celebrate, to cheer, to laugh and to love one another.

We enjoyed a lovely Ploughman’s Lunch with my parents back at the house after the parade.  I’m looking forward to many, many more parades in Situate with our boys.

Wishing all of you a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day and the luck of the Irish now and always!

Scituate has a very special place in my heart. When I came to the states about 15 years ago, I was oceans away from my family and incredibly lonely. My god-grandmother lived in Scituate and every weekend she would pick me up and I would spent the whole weekend in Scituate. I fell in love with the town and the tranquility and peace of mind that it gave me. It is a very special place.
