From Tiny Acorns

“From tiny acorns, mighty oaks do grow”
On Sunday we spent such a lovely afternoon exploring the woods with our family and friends.  The floor of Norris Reservation was filled with thousands, if not millions, of acorns waiting to grow into mighty oaks.  Towering above our heads were these mighty oaks, pines, sycamores and elm trees.  The brightly colored red, orange and yellow leaves along with the evergreens provided such a beautiful canopy.
The children loved collecting pine cones and acorns.  The above saying really does remind me of my boys.  When Luke and I got married our children were just a dream.  We didn’t know then if our dream would come true.  When we brought them home from the hospital they were so tiny.  I loved looking at their little toes, that fresh baby smell and loved gazing into their eyes.  In those early days and weeks, it felt as if time stood still for us.  But now, and each year, it goes quicker and quicker.

Look how big they have grown.  Soon they will be as mighty as the oaks we passed by on Sunday.  My good friend, Egle, captured some amazing pictures of my very busy boys.  She captured their playful side:

But she also captured two parents who are so in love with their boys.

The wonder we felt when we brought them home from the hospital, it is still there.  That heart full of love, it is still there.  That enjoyment we both feel just by watching them and laughing with them, I don’t think that will ever change either.

That need to try and protect them so they don’t fall.  To lift them up when they do – she captured that too.  Egle is an incredible photographer.  I shared some photos she took of Conor’s birthday back in September and I’m sure you’ll see many more photos on the blog.

I’m so glad she was able to capture moments of my family that we will always treasure.  She even got some great ones of our girl, Poppy!
