Desperately Seeking Sandy!

Happy Halloween!  My little guys are so excited and so am I (it is my favorite holiday).  The best part of all is we are all safe after the storm and Halloween in the Harbor will still be happening this afternoon.  I’ll share some photos with you all later this week.

We’ve been a little consumed over here on the East Coast with a little lady named Sandy.  She blew in here on Monday.

Conor, John & Poppy watching Hurricane Sandy

The waves were enormous breaking over seawalls and houses, the winds were whipping at over 50 mph and there was a bit of rain (to say the least).  We heeded the warnings by local authorities and stayed put.  We made rhubarb and raspberry crumble before we lost power.  The boys constructed forts out of pillows and built many worlds out of legos.

We had so many lovely message via facebook and the blog hoping we were okay.  Even family in the UK and Australia wanted to make sure we were okay – guess they heard about Scituate there!  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  We have some amazing family and friends who offered us shelter in case we needed it.  The town also did an amazing job informing the residents and had a shelter set up for anyone who needed it.  We weathered the storm just fine.  I thought you may want to see some fantastic images of Scituate during the storm taken by an amazing local photographer – Kjeld Mahoney.
Isn’t this one of surfers at Peggoty Beach lovely?  Look at those waves!

There are many more on his site.  Hope you go check them out.
Sandy has left now, but in her path she brought much destruction.  We luckily were spared, but I know so many along the coast have been effected.  Some have lost loved ones, some have lost their homes and some still have no power.  My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have suffered this storm.
The ocean at Egypt Beach yesterday morning still seemed very angry….

Just in case…

So glad you’re all ok, and sounds like you made it a really fun day for the boys.
The pictures on the news are pretty horrific and it’s so sad that people have lost their lives. It’s hard for us to imagine the devastation over here – our last big storm was in 1987 !
