Dad’s Day: Some Gift Ideas

Father’s Day is just around the corner, have you figured out what you’re getting the dad in your life?  I know guys can be macho and act like Father’s Day isn’t that big a deal.  I’m here to tell you that they really do and truly love it.

Here are some ideas, that the daddy in our life loved.  Thought this might get you started:

1. A Nautical Tide Clock (living near the beach this is essential)

Tide Clock from Mass Bay Trading

This is an image from their website, but I personalized our’s with a map of Scituate with our house’s location.  Luke loved it!

2. A hand print dish:

John did this at the local pottery painting place when he was three.  It has sat on Luke’s bedside table ever since to collect spare change.

3. A fig tree:

Brown Turkey Fig Tree

We got our tree last year from Miller Nurseries and it is still doing fantastic.  The tree only cost $16!

4. A hand made t-shirts from the kids:

‘hand’ made t-shirt

This shirt was literally hand made with a few dinos thrown in!  We did it with a cotton shirt, fabric paint and foam stamps.  My husband has worn it to death!

5. Home-made jars of Dad’s favorite salsa or sauces.  We made our own labels.  The Graphic’s Fairy has great Vintage Dad themed ones.

6. Brownie cupcakes for the King of the Grill:

We got up at 5am to make these before Luke woke up last year!  He loved them!

7. A personalized grill cutting board:

$60 at Red Envelop

We got one similar to this at Red Envelop and Luke loved it.  But I’m also loving these chopping boards on Etsy:

From A Heirloom Etsy Shop

A Heirloom’s Etsy shop is here and they can do any of the states.  I think the last day to order for Father’s Day is today, June 8th!  Aren’t those chopping boards fun?

And for the dad that has everything:

Luke’s ‘new’ truck

A new truck for the dump, mulch and, of course, all the furniture you want to paint!  I blogged about it the other day, but incase you missed it click here.

Oh, and one more thing.  Don’t let the dad’s in your life think they are happy with the burgers they cook for themselves on the grill.  They won’t say it, but they really like to be recognized and like to go out for dinner like Moms on Mother’s Day.  We’ve had some fantastic meals at Joe’s American Bar and Grill, The Tinker’s Son and The Olde Salt House.  Enjoy!

These are all great ideas – I especially love that ‘state’ chopping board, but I guess your husband has already got his pretty large present !
