A Beau Update – 3 Months with Our Puppy

A few months ago, I promised you I’d do a little life and Beau update. Well, here it is! I often share photos and videos on Instagram and Facebook, but if you don’t follow me over there then you may be surprised how big how puppy has grown!

Adorable mixed rescue dog

Beau will be 7 months on June 23rd. It’s amazing how much he has grown and learned in the past three months with us. If you missed it you, you may want to read this post first on how we adopted him and our reasons.

Part of the Family

The potty training, the needle puppy teeth, the difficulty walking on a leash is now a distant memory and we are left with the most gorgeous and lovable dog. We can’t imagine our life without him.

We’re on a schedule now and that feels really, really good. We get up, play for a bit, have breakfast and go for a long walk. Then Beau naps usually for quite an extended period, especially with the heat. Lunch at noon, more playing, and sleeping. After dinner, he plays with Max and then we chill on the couch.

He loves EVERYONE – people, dogs, the boys, and Max. He truly is so lovable.

Some of His Favorites

I thought I’d share some of his personality now that it’s shining through. Beau is a lot like Poppy was. He LOVES being outside in the yard and loves to watch the birds and take it all in. Below, he was trying to figure out what a fly was doing on the window…

Ice cubes are so much fun. He loves when I put them in his bowl outside and it’s so funny to watch him. He bobs for ice as one would bob for apples. He does this in the house too which can make quite a mess in the kitchen.

Beau really loves carrots and apples. Anytime I’m having some I cut up chunky pieces for him to crunch.

He loves to sit right under my feet or by my side when I’m writing or painting. He’ll curl up in the shade of the outdoor table or by the armchair (under the ceiling fan) in the sunroom.

He loves his crate. If we say Beau, “It’s time for your crate and time to nap.” He runs right to it.

Beau enjoys bounding upstairs and waking all the boys up with big slurpy kisses.

He loves his big (little) brother Max and he enjoys taunting him with squeaky toys to get him to play with him. They are so very cute together.

Beau loves long walks to the lighthouse and the beach.

He loves the water and really splashes his water bowl and top step of the pool. I’m eager to see if he jumps in the pool during the height of the summer when it’s full of kids splashing and frolicking.

Life Is Good

Initially the puppy stage was A LOT of work and even I was questioning my sanity and wondering if we made the right decision, but honestly we have no regrets. We feel so very lucky that we could adopt Beau and so grateful to Sterling Animal Shelter.

I know this isn’t the best composed photo but I think you can really see the love and comfort of both Max and Beau in this photo.

We just love him so much. So if you’re thinking about getting a dog, do it. Yes, it’s a lot of work but so worth it.

Love the pictures. I would say you have picked a winner because sometimes puppies are puppies for 18 months or more with all the work you have seemed to have gotten done in only a few months. Did you ever get his breed information back as I have been waiting to see what that said. I am guessing some lab and shepherd but I know it can be anyone’s guess sometimes. Glad all is going well. Love the picture of the two on the sofa.
