Sofia Side Table (Before & After)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  We enjoyed pizza on the beach on Friday night and the most spectacular fireworks display in Hingham on Saturday.  Just wanted to let you all know that with summer (and beach days and mini adventures upon us) I'm not going to be able to blog every day.  I think I may start doing it Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  Hope you all understand!

Today I want to share the Sofa Side Table (which I finished a little while ago).  A happy shade of blue green with a little glitz of gold this sweet side table is ready for a party.  Perhaps, a 4th of July party! Here she is:

After
But she didn't always look so festive.  Before she was brown and boring and you probably wouldn't notice her in a crowd:

The top had a few scratches too:

After cleaning and applying some clear shellac, I started off with my ASCP in Provence.  It is such a pretty shade.  You remember remember Sofia's sister - Colette.  Colette raised money in the Sciutate Food Pantry Benefit Auction:

I thought this same color combination would look sweet on Sofia.  After apply Provence, I lightly distressed the table using sandpaper and wiped with a wet cloth to show the wood on top:

She then got two coats of clear wax and some beautiful gilding wax.  The gold wax is so much fun to play with.  I just apply with my finger.  I think Conor thought it was finger paints and got it all over my bathroom while I was working on this piece!

Here's a close up of the gold wax:

The dainty curved feet:

Here she is all ready for a patriotic party complete with starfish earrings!
