Thanksgiving Decor

Can you believe Thanksgiving is two weeks away?!! I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about Thanksgiving decor.

I LOVE setting the table for Thanksgiving and have loads of affordable ideas. I’m rounding up my favorites from Thanksgivings passed to give you some fun tips for this year!

7 Thanksgiving Ideas multiple images of fall tablesettings

What I love about Thanksgiving is it’s all about gathering and simply sharing a great meal and enjoying time with loved ones. So simple. So important.

When I was growing up my family owned a restaurant. Thanksgiving was ALWAYS so busy and while I enjoyed setting the table and helping my mom with the flower arranging, I missed sharing an intimate family dinner on this holiday. I think that’s why I relish in setting the table for my little family (even if it’s just for 4 or 5 of us).

Small intimate gatherings can be so meaningful.

Use Branches

Red acer branches

Simple maple branches elevated this table to so much more. These pretty Acer leaves came from a friend’s yard and the deep crimson added so much warmth to this table.

Whimsical Watercolor Place Cards

I created these pretty watercolor place cards for our table last year and it really was a special and simple idea.

For this table I mixed in Ikea placemats, our every day dishes, vintage silver, and a thrift store linen runner. It really was simple and pretty. Here’s a peek at the full table:

Lovely Dahlias

Outdoor Dahlia Tablescape

Speaking of Dahlias here is an outdoor idea using them:

We no longer have this deck, but a patio instead. This table was from a few years ago. I scattered greenery including eucalyptus, dahlias, shells, and votive holders in wine bottles. So simple but it felt so warm and inviting!

Watercolor Leaves

I shared this watercolor leaf free printable with you last year. It would be so pretty as place cards for your Thanksgiving tables.

Bittersweet and Pumpkins

I usually like neutrals and whites or some wine colors thrown in, BUT I loved creating this pretty bittersweet and orange pumpkin table.

I found the bittersweet down on the beach and clipped it and twined it around pumpkins in an old crate. This was so simple and affordable.

I added some faux fur and throw pillows to make it feel more cozy!

A Found and Foraged Tablescape

This is probably my favorite tablescape of all time. I mixed in my mom’s china and old silver, with beautiful limelight hydrangeas clipped from the yard.

Fresh bread, old brass candlesticks, pumpkins and fragrant eucalyptus. It felt wonderful when I was creating this and I’m still reminded of that feeling when I look at the photos. Oh, and would you believe those copper chargers are actually plastic? Get the tutorial for faux copper chargers.

White Pumpkins

Finally, mini white pumpkins are just so sweet and can go such a long way on any table. Here you can see them placed on linen napkins and it looks so crisp and perfect for Thanksgiving.

More about our Tables

In this post you’ll see two tables – our outdoor cedar table and our indoor dining table. My husband built both of these and we’ve enjoyed gathering around these tables for fancy dinners, sleepy breakfasts, and family game nights. If you’d like to see how he built both you can find more about the in these posts: build plans for a cedar table and our English Inspired dining table.
