Cars (for real)

When does a man’s love affair with a car actually begin?  Is it with that red shiny wagon left under the Christmas tree with a giant bow?  Somewhere along the line transforming to the red truck a guy needs to have in his mid 30s and then comes the red shiny sports car in their 60s or 70s.  When does it all start?

It seems this car obsession starts quite young.  Conor loves playing with cars and zooming around on his ‘motorcycle’ (Y bike) in the front yard.  On Saturday we spend many, many hours in a local car dealership.  Our little guy loved all the old classic cars and, of course, the sports ones too.

We were there for a very important reason.  For as long as I can remember, my hubby has been obsessed with getting a truck.  This truck obsession started even before we moved to the states (8 years ago).  I think it all stems from a truck he had when he was a youth in Cornwall, England.  He had a  little Honda then that could be picked up by friends.  One time they actually picked it up and put in the hedge!  It looked very similar to this Suzuki 4 x 4:

But, I digress, let’s get back to the hours at the car showroom.

Candy, Angry Birds and trying out cars / trucks kept them all very happy.  We ended up trading in our very first car, a Toyota Corolla, for this awesome and very big Chevy.
