My New Coastal Watercolor Workbook

I am so excited to introduce you all to my NEW coastal watercolor workbook. If you’ve followed along then you know I started working on the paintings and video tutorials of this book back in January but it’s been a long time dream of mine to create a coastal themed watercolor workbook.

In August of 2011 when I started my little blog it’s because I wanted to write books. I was a young mom who had two very busy little boys but wanted a creative outlet. I know some of you have been following along since those early days.

This is actually my second book. My first was an e-Book on painting furniture. I used to paint A LOT of furniture back in the day – chalk paint, milk paint, dressers, tables, chairs. You name it I painted it, but somewhere a long the line I traded in my furniture paints for watercolor paints. I still love painting furniture but it’s something that I do more for my own use now.

I started teaching classes at Noted in Higham and created some watercolor brush sets for that class and this book grew organically out of my classes and talking to students. I wanted to create something to help people learn techniques but in a fun way. This is the book I wish I had when I started my watercolor journey!

What’s Inside

This book is equal parts a love letter to the coast as it is a love letter to watercolors. I find sitting and painting in our coastal sunroom so relaxing. I really wanted to create something where everyone could flex those creative muscles whether you want to learn watercolor for relaxation or if you want it to become something more.

The book is in two parts. The first is about materials and techniques and the second part of the book is 10 tutorials with real time videos that I narrate. We will paint for 4 1/2 hours together! The best part is you can paint right in the book and you can pause the videos – slow them down or rewatch them!

What’s inside:

  • 10 fun coastal projects
  • Step by step instructions with examples
  • 4 ½ hours of painting videos in real time
  • Watercolor tricks and techniques
  • Lays flat for painting fun
  • Illustrated, written, and printed in Massachusetts
  • Printed on lovely 140 lb Legion watercolor paper and the cover and inside pages are printed on beautiful Mohawk
  • 7.25 x 9.25 – great size for travel or painting at home

Are you ready to unleash your inner coastal artist?

A Labor Of Love

This book would not exist without my printer, TPI Solutions Ink. I know I always tell you how much I love my printers but truly they believed in this little book as much as I did. At the time, when I started painting, I didn’t know it was going to be difficult to source watercolor paper or the challenges of printing on it. Carrie and her team have gone above and beyond to help me create this and I’m so excited you will be able to hold it in your hands. I also have to say a huge thank you to Sara, the graphic designer at TPI Solutions Ink and an artist in her own right. She helped me tweak the layout and made it look beautiful.

I picked up my books on Friday and it felt like Christmas AND just having a baby!!!! We were all so excited.

A thank you to my friends at Mohawk Paper and Legion Paper. The paper in this book is phenomenal and is wonderful watercolor paper which is 100% cotton. Lovely to paint on!

To My Dear Readers

Finally, this blog, this book and this creative journey would not be possible with all of you! Some of you have read this blog for years and some perhaps have only just stubbled upon it. A huge thank you to all of you. You all have changed my life in the best possible way. Being able to create, to play, to paint, and imagine new ways of sharing joy and my passion for creativity is a dream come true. We are all creative! It’s something that lives inside of us and we don’t have to stop making or creating as we grow up. I hope you love the book as much as we have loved creating it! Be sure to share this post with any friends or family members who may enjoy it. Lots more fun things coming.
