A Simple Fresh Greenery Tablescape

I always draw my inspiration from Nature. Today I’m sharing a simple fresh greenery tablescape.

The other morning light was streaming in through these two windows and it was so warm. I shared a few videos on Insta Stories on my step by step.

I wish I could tell you I gathered this greenery from our yard or the woods, but it was actually from the grocery store.

We were at our local market in Scituate after John’s fencing class. He pleaded with me to get some dessert to go with dinner. So I got a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked (our current obsession) and got a bunch of winter greens.

I’m a firm believer in playing with items and trying them out. I had no clue what I was going to do or how it would look but I thought it might be fun to share the process here.

Keep your greenery in fresh water until you’re ready to use them. I heard from my friend Lucy over at Craftberry Bush that you can submerge greens in water and spray them with this to prevent needles form drying out. I clip the branches to size with thisthey are my favorite and perfect if you know someone who loves to garden. We got them asa present when we first moved to our home and I used them all the time.

I cleared our heart pine table off and wiped it down with Woca Oil Soap. I love how it brings out the pine scent in the table. Once dry I rolled out some cheesecloth to add a softness and texture.

I often use this when working on furniture for waxing. So I went to my basement studio for a fresh roll. It’s really affordable and adds softness. I rippled it with my finger tips to create some soft folds and texture.

Next I placed this candle in the center of a crystal cake stand.

I added pine and a few mercury glass ornaments. I placed the greenery in a swirling pattern to almost look like a wreath from above.

It looked pretty but needed the red berries.

The holly just adds a pop of happiness, don’t you think?

On the cheese cloth I placed pine and boxwood and some more red berries.

I added two glass ornaments at either end of the table to balance the centerpiece.

This says traditional Christmas to me but with a twist.

I also thought it would be fun to give you a few ideas for place settings.

I used the same pine on some blue and white plates I found at a thriftstore.

So simple. If you add a starfish it makes it feel a little more coastal:
