Thank you all for your kind comments about our upcoming move. We are very, very excited to say the least.
The other week I had the pleasure of helping my friend, Lisa, with her wine rack:

This Crate & Barrel piece went from modern and minimalist (a style which Lisa doesn’t love anymore):

to beach chic:

We selected Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue (my favorite chalk paint color) with some light distressing to make the piece look more reclaimed and well-loved. How can a wine rack be anything but well-loved, right?
I washed down the piece and did two coats of clear shellac to prevent any bleed through then two coats of Duck Egg Blue. I used a wet rag to distress. Simply wet some Viva paper towels and wipe away the paint. I also used a fine grit sand block for the rack area. The whole piece is sealed with two coats of Annie Sloan clear wax to protect the finish.

Now, Lisa’s wine rack goes so much better with her decor and her Dillon & Co. dining room set:

Aren’t those chairs and table fabulous?!? Here’s another image:

Just need some wine and some glasses and we’re all ready for summer at the beach!
