Count Your Eggs Before They’ve Hatched

That is if you are using Annie Sloan’s Duck Egg Blue.  I have to tell you this is such a beautiful color.  It has some blues and some greens and it truly encompasses the color of a duck’s egg.  I also love how restful it is.

Here is a chair I painted to go with my desk:

After: Duck Egg Blue and Old White

Here is what the chair looked like before:

Before

The chair was falling apart (see at the bottom) the wood had to be re-glued.  It had also been stored in our crawlspace for several years so was filthy and slightly furry.  Got the bleach out and really washed it down.  Then glued the chair legs back together with wood glue.

I did one coat of Duck Egg Blue and then did various parts of the chair in Old White.  Got a bit of sandpaper and lightly distressed.

I also added a coral stencil in the same blue to go with our seaside home.  Finishing with clear wax:

Here is what the back looks like (excuse the Christmas lights):
I really like the combination of the blue and white together.  It adds a crispness, but also a dreamy quality of the ocean.  I love it!  With Duck Egg Blue you can certainly count your eggs before they hatch!  Here is my ‘new and improved’ chair with my desk (where I busily tap away these blogs to all of you):

Your chair turned out beautifully. (One of my New Year’s resolutions is to try chalk paint.)

I’ve been using chalk paint for a little over a month. Once you start using it you won’t want to use anything else. It dries so quick and there is no priming or sanding to prepare. It is great!

Claire, stopped by and saw all your sewing. Just got a sewing machine for Christmas so I may need some advice 🙂

Oh, I really like your “new” chair. I recently painted some chairs in Duck Egg Blue, too. Don’t you just love the color? I like that you added white on the spindles.

Thanks, Jennifer. I LOVE the duck egg blue. I feel like each ASCP color I use I like more than the last, but duck egg blue is just so serene.
