Spring Decorating Ideas

Spring is my favorite season! I love waving good bye to the cold and snow and saying hello to longer days, fresh flowers and pretty pastel colors.

Spring Decorating Ideas I Finding Silver Pennies

My friend Rachel over at Shades of Blue Interiors is hosting this cozy spring home tour of 22 bloggers. The tour is co-hosted with Country Living Magazine. We’ll all be sharing tips and DIYs to help you get your home ready for the warmer months!

This post is sponsored by HomeGoods.

What’s a girl to do to beat the winter blues? Go shopping at HomeGoods, of course! I shared this image on Instagram and was delighted to have so much shopping success!

See what I mean? I brought Luke and the boys with me and we all had so much fun finding some great items.

I thought it would be fun to focus on some rooms you haven’t seen on the blog in a while. So let’s start upstairs in our bedroom. I’ll intersperse special tips within this post.

Spring is the perfect time to change up bedding. Wash and dry your old bedding and either store for next winter, put it in the yard sale pile or donate it to a local charity.

All the bedding is from HomeGoods. I wanted to go light, bright and airy for this season. The duvet cover and shams are by Nicole Miller Home and I love the crinkling detail. We built the “reclaimed” wood headboard, it was one of our first DIY projects.

It reminds me of a cloud and it feels like I’m floating whilst laying in bed.

Added bonus of textured bedding – you don’t have to iron which makes my life a lot easier!

Our little puppy, Max, adores the new bedding.

Too cute, right?

When purchasing sheets, always go for the higher thread count.

I always thought thread count was baloney. Until I slept in high thread count sheets. Ummm, there’s no comparison and no going back. I added the Lauren Stafford sheets to our trolley. They are 350 thread count and feel amazing. I can’t believe they were only $49! I also really like white sheets and bedding. I feel like it’s easier to keep clean and always looks fresh!

Cashmere is worth splurging on.

I realize I’m decorating for spring but I get cold even in the summer! I know. I’m not sure why I live in New England, but anyway. This cashmere blanket is so soft and cozy. It looks so lovely at the end of the bed but is so snuggly to curl up with a book.

The throw pillows were also from HomeGoods. I thought the blue furry one was just so much fun and it adds a playfulness to our bed. The other is more muted but ties in with the tranquil blues and grays of our coastal bedroom.

Pick up good faux florals when you see them, they’ll always find a space in your home.

I love fresh flowers but always decorating with fresh can be very expensive. Not to mention, they just don’t last as long as faux. By investing in some food artificial arrangement I can enjoy spring flowers for weeks.

You may remember we built these faux soapstone side tables last year. I found these gorgeous lamps at HomeGoods last spring. Aren’t they beautiful?

Neutrals and textures mix for a timeless / classic look.

I added more faux florals from HomeGoods to our chippy milk paint dresser.

Peonies make me so happy! They remind me of my grandmother. I planted a bunch in our yard last year and I’m hoping they bloom this year.

I’m looking to replace the carpeting in this room with wood floors this year 😉 Fingers crossed.

I love the soft, romantic look in our bedroom!

Right, let’s go downstairs into the sitting area of our living room. I’ve added a few new finds for spring in this room!

Spring Decorating Ideas I Finding Silver Pennies

For quite awhile I’ve wanted a table to go between the two white arm chairs in our living room. Conor, our 7 year old, spotted this lovely marble and gold table while we were shopping. Isn’t it stunning?

Mix modern with traditional for an interesting twist.

Spring Decorating Ideas I Finding Silver Pennies

The chair shape is quite traditional but the gold table with solid marble makes quite the statement between them.

It’s so heavy too. I can’t believe this table was only $60. It’s by Max Studio and was on clearance. Yes, please to a beautiful piece at a bargain price.

The white peonies are also from HomeGoods and I think go so well with the table and classic mood of our living area.

Ticking Stripes go with everything.

Spring Decorating Ideas I Finding Silver Pennies

I have a serious addiction to stripes. When buying clothes, pillows, bags, rugs. I’m always, always, always drawn to stripes. I have a weakness for ticking stripe.

These feather pillows were at HomeGoods and I adore the wooden buttons on them. This has now become my favorite spot to sit with coffee and read!

I love how our oriental looks with all the white!

This area is so cozy now for spring!

We have one more area on our spring tour and it’s brand new! We have a new workspace at the top of our landing. You may recognize it from some furniture photo shoots. 😉 I’ll give more details on this space next week but, for now, here’s a peek.

Always use a rug if you have a rolling chair, it will protect your floors.

The black and white cabana rug from HomeGoods grounds this space. It also makes it appear bigger than it actually is which is an added bonus.

A hint of green, even faux, adds life to your room.

This potted faux succulent adds so much to this small work space.

Linen curtains add texture and warmth while still allowing light to filter in.

Finally, sheer linen curtains complete the look and let the natural light filter in.

The plant and curtains are also from HomeGoods.

I’ll share more about this workspace next week. I hope my tips help you decorate your homes for the warmer months ahead.

It all looks so beautiful, springy and fresh Danielle! I am also a faithful shopper of Home Goods, T J Maxx, and Marshalls there are always so many reasonably priced options for decorating. I recently picked up some beautiful cotton kitchen linens with a lemon print, some faux lemons to fill a large apothecary jar, a new table cloth, and a white textured cotton throw made in Portugal, (on clearance)! Even though i’m not going to use these items until I decorate for summer, I know how fast stock moves at these stores!! Like you, I am so over this… Read more »
