Demo Day

Hi friends, it’s been a bit crazy and a bit hectic. I’m sorry if I’ve been a little quiet on the blog and social media but Thursday was Demo Day at our house and our home doesn’t look the way I’m used to.

Are you ready to see it?

Here’s our living room currently:

In case this is your first time to the blog, this is what this room usually looks like:

I took the demo photos on Saturday morning and it was so amazing to see our home this way. This boards are so old and beautiful.  I’m kind of falling in love with our home all over again (dust and all!). This room is quite dark especially at night so we’ve opted to put some recessed lighting in.

Recessed Lighting

The LED lights will completely transform this room. I just know it!

The dining room is also looking quite similar…

Fall Dining Room with Gray Cabinet

So weird not to have the crystal chandelier or the gray hutch…

I’m so impressed by how much Fitzsimmons Construction has done in such a short time!  The ceilings in these room and the boy’s rooms are down and soon they will be plastered. The faux wall is down in the boys’ room and I have so many great plans for this space. I can’t wait to share it all.

But today, I just wanted to share some of my heart.  You see. I’m a real homebody.

I really, really love being at home.

I love curling up on the couch to watch a movie with the boys.

I love making cutlets in the kitchen while the boys are playing.

Painting furniture in the basement makes my heart happy.

Home is actually my favorite place to be.

Right now I’m not getting to do all these things. Right now, this is how we’re living….

Our bedroom is crammed to the brim.  The office moved in here along with ALL of Luke’s books.

I don’t know about you guys but we have the horrible problem of tidying things in closets and we had to get everything out of the rooms. We’re using all the vertical space in here.

Luke actually joked that our room looks like a studio apartment. All we need is a hot plate.  Ha! Ha!  It’s true!

The boys always wanted to watch TV in bed, well now they can….

We watched Star Wars the Force Awakens in here on May 4th but I said no to popcorn in bed 😉

I wanted to give you a little glimpse into our home right now as it’s going through a little renovation.

The pictures may not be pretty, but it’s real life.

Old homes are amazing and I wouldn’t trade mine for any other in the world. I’m so glad that with some help we can continue to preserve our home to be enjoyed by us and our children for generations to come.

They really don’t make them like they used to.  I know it will be a bit hectic for the next few weeks but looking forward to some new ceilings, new lights, new paint and some new designs for the kids rooms.

Thank you for following along on this journey.  I’ll definitely be posting pictures on Facebook and Instagram too.

We love being home too – I love my condo and I think that is why we love staying in.

The summer is a bit different. We have a balcony off the Master and a deck off the Family Room
We use them a lot, but again it’s being home.
I love to cook, so we hardly ever go out to eat, which we love.

I can’t wait to see your home finished.
Have a peaceful day.

It’s never fun making accommodations during a reno, but always worth it in the end! Can’t wait to see your transformation! Exciting! 😉

Your living room will be amazing with those lights! I fall in love with your beautiful wood trim every time I see it 🙂 Your photo of the books under the dresser reminds me a lot of our house. Since our downstairs is only partially finished at the moment, things like piles of books are just hanging out in about every room. I don’t mind though. It reminds me that our vision will be completed someday (hopefully) soon! It makes me so happy to hear how important it is to you to preserve your old home for future generations. That’s… Read more »
