30 Brilliant Books

30 Books for GiftsHappy Friday, friends.  One more week until Christmas & I have some great last minute ideas!  Why not give the gift of books?  We are big readers in our house.  Our bookcases are full!  I love laying in bed and reading to the kids and I also like quiet moments snuggled in warm blankets reading design books and novels.  I’ve been in the same book club for years and my youngest just hosted his own book club this week – they read the Polar Express. It was so cute.  I thought it would be fun to compile a list of 30 books for you!  Some are children’s books we love.  Some are design and DIY inspired. While some are fiction and will transport you to other worlds – mysteries, love stories, sad stories, local stories.

Thanks so much for the book list. My day job is as a bookseller at in my small town’s independent bookstore and I belong to a book group, so I read a lot. I’ve read and enjoyed most of the novels you listed but the one I’m still hoping to get to is “The Boston Girl.”

I’ve read a number of these great books and many are sitting on our bookshelves right now. I’m currently reading ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE by Anthony Doer. It’s one of those books you don’t want to see it end and I’ve been savoring every word. A couple of other great ones are: THE CIRCLE OF CERIDWEN by Octavia Randolph, THE PARIS ARCHITECT by Charles Belfoure and THE ORPHAN TRAIN by Christina Baker Kline. I’m always adding books to my wish list because I’d rather read than watch TV.

Great list. I second Carol’s endorsement of All the Light We Cannot See. Add to that The Goldfinch-what a long but absorbing story. If you liked the circular aspect of The Kite Runner, you’ll like this. The Headmaster’s Wager by Vincent Lam-another absorbing plot. The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill ( I think it has a different title in the states) and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Happy reading.
