My Circus, My Monkeys!

“Not my Circus, Not my monkeys.” – Proverb

Lately life has been hectic around here.  The kids were both sick and I was getting ready for the Duxbury Show.  I was starting to feel like “Not my circus, not my monkeys.”   But on Thursday night we took a break from everything and spent quality time as a family.  The Big Apple Circus gave me tickets to bring our boys to a show in Boston.  The Big Apple Circus is a not for profit circus from New York which has been delighting young and old for 37 years!

To the Big Top

Step inside with us and see what we saw!

The big top is set up in the heart of Boston in City Hall Plaza.

My little monkeys were just so excited to see the circus!  If you follow me on Instagram then you may have seen this photo:

This was before the show and they were so excited!  It was the first time we’d ever seen The Big Apple Circus and going into Boston is such an adventure. They love taking the boat in and then grabbed a slice of pizza at Faneuil Hall.  John couldn’t believe all the choices of food in there.

The show this year is called Metamorphosis and we were mesmerized. Things got started with Francesco the clown.  He was so funny and a very talented musician too.  Conor is usually scared of clowns but not this one!

The sets and costumes were dazzling.  I almost felt like I was in Paris:

The trampoline was amazing! Can you believe how high they are getting in the the air.

This circus is amazing because it does so much to help people through many outreach programs.  Even here, in Boston, at Boston Children’s Hospital clowns come 5 days a week to cheer up the children.  They also do work to help the elderly and community organizations.

We looked on in awe at all the acts.

She actually fit inside that box!

The boys loved this act with the rocket:

The circus will be in Boston now and until May 10th!  If you’re local, we highly recommend the show.

The acrobats are my favorite. I grew up on popcorn, elephants, and going to the BIG TOP!
