Brimfield and Blogging Friends

Over the weekend, the boys and I piled into the truck and headed to Brimfield.  Brimfield is the antique show in Massachusetts.  It happens three times a year, once in May, once in July and once in September.  You may remember some of my other trips – a road trip with my mom and Luke and my Brimfield Adventure.

This was our first time bringing the boys!

It is such an experience and I wanted our boys to see what it was like.  Being September, I wasn’t anticipating such a HOT day, and it was brutal.  We arrived at the fields around 9(ish) and already the humidity was high.  I think it reached about 94 and very humid.  NOT the best time to be walking around in sunny, dusty fields, but I’d rather that than rain (as was my first trip).

Here was our first stop.  Gorgeous jars and chippy paint.  So yummy.

I also loved this booth filled with nautical goodies.  He had lifesavers, oars, shells.  My own personal heaven!

 

Across from this area was a man I met on the World’s Longest Yard Sale last month.  His name is Bobby and I was so surprised I saw him considering how big Brimfield is.  He’s going to keep his eye out for a barn door for me on his way back to Texas.  Oh, yeah, I now want my own chippy barn door!

I fell madly, deeply in love (big time love) with everything in this booth.

EVERYTHING except for the prices.  Most everything was $3,000+ so that is obviously not in my price range, but fun window shopping.

We had to try out some Chesterfields –

and there was lots and lots of leather, but I have a feeling none was as good a price as my Chesterfield!

There was so much to see…

We saw Lara Spencer and the crew of Flea Market Flip.  She was melting in the heat.

John was mesmerized by this blacksmith –

I had hoped on coming home with a truck full of goodies, but instead we made memories.  I did bring home some bottles and wooden stamps and a Tolle platter.  I almost bought these for the boys but the burlap felt so rough that I knew they wouldn’t sit on them.  Maybe we’ll try and make something similar instead.

BUT our journey didn’t end there, we actually had one other stop to make.  Do  you guys know Victoria from Trois Petites Filles?!?  I think you probably do. She has two beautiful little girls and quite an amazing and inspiring home.  Anyway, we’ve become quite good friends through our shared interests – blogging, painting furniture etc.

We were going to meet at Brimfield but then she thought it would be fun for us to stop by for some lunch and it was an amazing lunch. She made this delicious Coconut and Chicken soup, as well as, some Thai Iced Tea.

I told her she needs to share this recipe on her blog, don’t you think?!?

Catching up, watching our kids play and chatting A LOT about furniture and painting was a brilliant end to the day.

Walking into  Victoria’s home is like a journey into a dream.  Whatever she wants, she creates.  Dreams become reality: soft bedding, frilly ruffles, gilding, a wall made from book spines… Really wherever you look there is something special and so unique.

For me these wonderful friends I’ve made through blogging are the best part of the whole journey.  Who would have known, when I started writing that I’d have so many friends out there who also like to craft, DIY, paint and create!  I am so inspired by all of them.

I leave today for Blogpodium in Canada.  I am so excited to meet up with three more really good friends – Alice (Thoughts from Alice), Shannon (AKA Design) and Lucy (Craftberry Bush). Don’t worry I’ll tell you all about it when I get back…
