Haven Conference 2013

For the past several days, I’ve been at the Haven Conference in Atlanta.  See that huge smile?!?  It did not leave my face for a second.  I was so happy to be there!  I wish you guys were there too!  It was so fun.

That’s Shannon from AKA Design!  We’ve been good friends since I started the blog two years ago.  It was her headboard that inspired our own.  We met at Haven for the first time & she is definitely my Canadian twin (she’s 5 feet too and everyone was saying they thought we’d both be taller).

Our Headboard

We laughed and laughed.

KariAnne over at Thistlewood Farms, a blog I love, had tears of joy streaming down my face with all her fantastic stories.  She may be even funnier in person, if that is possible.

I learned so much this weekend and made so many wonderful friends.  Some highlights were meeting and painting with Marian, many of you know her as Miss Mustard Seed.  She is such an inspiration to me.

We played with chalk paint and milk paint in the advanced painting session.  I think I’ve found a finish that would be perfect for our coffee table:

Styling a bookcase with other bloggers in the Ballard Designs bookcase challenge was so great – I felt like I was on HGTV Design Star (minus the snide remarks).  Loved chatting with Frog Tape, Royal Design Studios, Ryobi, OnlineFabricStore.net and all the other sponsors.

One of my favorite booths was the Annie Sloan Booth.  I’m sure that is no big surprise to anyone who reads the blog regularly.  That is me and Lisa Rickert from Annie Sloan Unfolded.  Isn’t that booth fantastic?!?  Love the lights and the French chairs.  I had a blast checking out new ideas for finishes.

Now, I’m home and was greeted at Logan by my two little guys and my hubby – my fan club.  They all  missed me and did their best to keep the house tidy while I was gone.  So thankful for them.

Now, it is onto tidying this house and getting started on our Dining Room.  I’ll share my ideas for the room later this week.

I will leave you with how Ana White, the keynote speaker, finished her speech:

“Believe in yourself…
Someday, everyone else will have to.”

Danielle you are so cute! Hopefully next year I can make it to Haven and meet you in person! I feel like we’d get along 🙂 Such a lovely finish you found for your coffee table too! I’m doing something similar (but with more dark wax) for a dining room set I’m sloooooowly working on. I’m excited to see how yours turns out!
