Across the Pond (Part 1): A Farmhouse in Devon

We spent the most lovely weekend with our extended family of 19 nestled at this lovely farmhouse,

Deer’s Leap Retreat, in the Devon countryside.
Built in 1834, this home had lovely rustic beams, large fireplaces, a gorgeous dining room and a dark green Aga in the kitchen.

We were greeted by homemade scones and Devonshire clotted cream.  My family, coming from Cornwall would argue it isn’t as nice as Cornish Cream Teas which we will have later this week.  But the American contingent thought it was lovely:
Can you smell those lovely, buttery scones?!?
The scenery has been breathtaking.  Gorgeous woods to walk in
The smell of English roses in the garden
Our family had so much fun playing tennis and bouncing on the trampoline.  The boys loved running around the garden with their cousins.  You all know how much Conor loves his bubbles and his sweet little cousin:
The hot tub for eight and sauna was big hit. So relaxing to sit in the gorgeous garden and catch up with everyone.
John loved the horses and got to visit them at the stables:
The boys have also enjoyed exploring one or two phone boxes:
But the best part has been spending time with our family.  I think we’d all agree with that:

Such a beautiful and touching post. The boys are so cute and the bubble blowing seemed to have some major concentration going on. Priceless!

What a lovely environment for a family get-together. We are taking our family to Normandy, France next summer for the same kind of family vacation. I hope our rental home turns out as welcoming as yours was!
