My Happy Place

It is no secret how much I LOVE to paint furniture.  It is my outlet away from the world.  I paint to de-stress, I paint to transform ugly ducklings, but most of all I paint because it makes me so HAPPY.

PAINTING FURNITURE IS MY HAPPY PLACE
But with our home for sale I haven’t been able to paint nearly as much as I like to.  My kitchen studio has been shut for a bit while people have come to open houses and showings.  It is all going well with the house and I hope to share more with you all real soon about everything but I can’t just yet.  I will say though that selling and looking for a home is more stressful than I thought it would be.
Then late Wednesday night we had quite a surprise in the utility room which is next to our workroom in the lower level….  The hot water heater decided to give up the ghost.  Quite literally!  Water continued to seep out of it and at 10:15pm our plumber had already gone to bed.  Luke and I did the best we could but the Scituate Fire Department came to help us out.  We have the best fire department in Scituate!  Such great people came to help us, making sure the gas was shut off and helping us redirect the water.  Phew.  Our plumber, David Larsen, came out bright and early and installed a new hot water heater.  Luckily we had no damage and now have hot water back.
Yours truly just had to paint. So yesterday, I cranked Adele and painted to my hearts content.  I’ll be working more on this desk today.  It isn’t finished yet but just thought I’d share a work in progress.
French Desk (Before)
I first started sketching out the desk (I’m not an artist) in my new Annie Sloan workbook and I’m loving how I can paint right on the pages.
My “Work Book”
This little lady got a two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Antoinette and she’s getting some fun pearl plaster and Chateau Grey today.
In progress – 2 coats of ASCP Antoinette
Despite all the stress and strain of the week, I’m happy to be painting again.  I have some other fun projects in the works and can’t wait to share more with you!  TGIF!  Oh, and don’t forget to party with me this Sunday at Silver Pennies Sundays!

Sorry to hear about the water heater. Glad you were able to de-stress a little. Hope all goes well with the home selling and buying process. It can be frustrating.

Such a pretty desk and I love the new color! I know what you mean about selling and buying a house. It can be nerve-wracking. People always seem to want to come see your house at the worse times! Still, it’s exciting too! Good luck! Hugs, Leena

Julie {Lilacs and Longhorns}

She’s going to be gorgeous — can’t wait to see the finished piece!

Good luck with the sale of your home…it is VERY stressful! And, so happy your water heater didn’t cause more damage. 🙂
