Vintage Plant Stand (After)

With all the plants growing in the garden, I was inspired to redo this little plant stand.  Before it was completely dark stained.  Here is what it looked like:

Nothing wrong with it, but I just felt like all the details kind of got lost.  Don't you?  So, I started with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre.  I did one coat.  Originally, I was going to paint the feet Louis Blue, but I just really loved some of the wood showing through.

Isn't that a pretty color?  I knew I wanted to distress this.  The wood has an uneven texture and some bubbling from age.   Distressing and dark wax highlight these wonderful details of the wood.  Here you can see in detail the dark wax compared to the Old Ochre with just the clear wax.

The actual wood on this piece is so cool.  Can you see that bubbling and texture of the orignal stain?:

Distressing and dark wax

I know some are scared to use the dark wax, but it is so much fun and do you want to know a secret?  If you put too much dark wax on, you can just use the clear wax to erase it.  That's a little tip from Annie herself :)
